Well Beyond Breast Cancer
In this episode, Allie Brumel and Trish Michelle of the nonprofit organization The Breasties share how community, connection, and peer support can transform the cancer experience. Drawing from their personal experiences as survivors, advocates, and community leaders, Allie and Trish discuss why life after a cancer diagnosis is not simply about “getting back to normal.” Together, they explore how community can become a powerful source of support, information, advocacy, and healing, helping people feel less alone, ask better questions, prepare for treatment, manage side effects, and connect with others who truly understand. They also share the story behind the start of The Breasties, a nonprofit created to fill a gap in cancer care by building inclusive spaces and programs for people impacted by breast and gynecologic cancers. This conversation is a reminder that peer support, self-advocacy, and community are not “extras” in cancer care. They are essential parts of healing, recovery, and living well beyond a diagnosis. . Well Beyond Breast Cancer is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the breast cancer community by expanding access to Breast Cancer Rehabilitation through a Financial Assistance Program, educational initiatives, and advocacy efforts.
