Featured on the All Ability Hour on West Bremer Radio, Tursa representative Martin highlighted the organisation’s 30-year legacy of empowering individuals across southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales. “We’re here to enhance what participants receive through the NDIS, but we operate outside of their funding, offering our services completely free of charge,” Martin explained. PERSONALIZED EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS Tursa works closely with clients to assess abilities, set goals, and identify tailored pathways into the workforce. With connections across various industries, including hospitality, administration, and creative arts, the organization offers practical solutions to match clients with roles that align with their aspirations. A key feature of Tursa’s program is its ongoing support. “We provide up to 52 weeks of post-placement support for both the participant and the employer,” Martin said, ensuring long-term success in the workplace. COLLABORATION WITH THE COMMUNITY Tursa also collaborates with support coordinators and community groups to streamline access to its services. Patti, co-host of the All Ability Hour, highlighted the value of Tursa’s approach: “It’s so important for participants to see what’s possible and to connect with supportive employers who understand their abilities.” CELEBRATING SUCCESS Martin shared a heartwarming story of a client passionate about dance. By securing a reception role at a dance studio, Tursa enabled her to work in a space that inspired her. “The disability became an ability,” Martin emphasised, reflecting the organisation’s mission. Employers and participants can learn more or register interest at Tursa’s Website [https://www.tursa.com.au/] “When everyone works together, we achieve sustainable employment and life-changing outcomes,” Martin said. Tune into the All Ability Hour next Saturday for more inspiring stories from the Ipswich community. The animated blockbuster drew record crowds, with the newly refurbished XD cinema – featuring recliners and daybeds – opening just in time for the film’s debut. “We put tickets on sale just an hour before the session, and nearly 100 people attended our first screening. The atmosphere was electric,” said Lex, Limelight Cinemas spokesperson. The movie’s success cements its place among animated classics like Shrek 2 and Incredibles 2. The weekend also showcased Limelight’s renovations, with upgraded seating and state-of-the-art laser projection enhancing the cinematic experience. The full refurbishment is set to be completed just before Christmas, promising an even better movie-going experience for Ipswich locals. For fans of holiday traditions, Limelight is bringing Christmas cheer with André Rieu’s Winter Wonderland. The concert film features festive classics performed under dazzling chandeliers and candelabras, offering audiences a magical seasonal escape. Limelight’s popular Christmas classics series continues with Die Hard this weekend, followed by How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Love Actually, and Home Alone. “These films are part of the festive spirit, and it’s wonderful to see families coming together to enjoy them,” Lex added. For those seeking something dramatic, advanced screenings of Conclave begin Sunday. The film, starring Ralph Fiennes, takes audiences inside the Vatican’s political intrigue as Cardinals gather to elect a new Pope. Limelight’s gold-class experience, featuring $15 kids’ tickets for Moana, adds a touch of luxury to the holiday season. [https://i0.wp.com/westbremerradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Teresa-Harding.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1] Ipswich City Council has endorsed a new citywide IGO Parking Action Plan to address growing parking demands over the next decade. The initiative replaces a 13-year-old strategy and focuses on key areas like the Ipswich CBD and Springfield Central. “We’ve worked extensively with the community to understand their needs,” Mayor Teresa Harding said. The plan incorporates accessible parking, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking, and loading zones, aiming for a more organized and inclusive approach to parking. In other council updates, Ipswich’s Active Kids program has seen a 218% rise in participation this year. Over 5,000 children have engaged in sports and activities, up from 1,600 last year. Mayor Harding praised the initiative, saying, “It’s wonderful to see so many kids trying out different sports before committing to fees and equipment.” The council has also renewed its partnership with the Greater Springfield and Ipswich Region Chambers of Commerce. This collaboration will provide funding for local business initiatives, networking events, and job expos, ensuring continued support for Ipswich’s economic growth. “Local businesses are the backbone of our community,” Mayor Harding said. As the festive season kicks off, Mayor Harding joined the community last week to light the City’s Christmas Tree in the Nicholas Street Precinct. With carol events and community celebrations across Ipswich, the mayor highlighted the unity brought by the season. In a show of civic pride, Ipswich welcomed 299 new Australian citizens from 43 countries during a citizenship ceremony on Monday. “It’s an honor to welcome so many new Australians to our city,” said Mayor Harding. Residents can explore the IGO Parking Plan and updates on flood recovery efforts on the council’s website.
