Rabbi Albert Setton hosts classes every day at 8:15 AM during the summer, and on Shabbat at 7:00 AM at West Deal Shul. In Parashat Va'etchanan, Moshe Rabbeinu introduces the mitzvah of Ahavat Hashem — the commandment to love Hashem — for the first time in the Torah. Moshe presents this mitzvah across three dimensions: thought, speech, and action, with the actions including the mitzvot of tefillin and mezuzah. Rabbi Setton observes that people tend to gravitate naturally toward one of these dimensions — some are more comfortable with outward religious action, while others connect more deeply through inner feeling — but struggle with the others. The core message is that every Jew is called to grow in all three dimensions of this mitzvah, not just the ones that come naturally. Because Ahavat Hashem is the most important mitzvah in the Torah, it demands our fullest expression across thought, speech, and action. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (0:00) Intro: Mitzvah of Ahavat Hashem (0:27) Three Dimensions of the Mitzvah (1:07) Heart vs. Action: Two Types (1:46) Growing Fully in Ahavat Hashem - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Visit: westdealshul.org Sponsorships: west.deal.classes@gmail.com
