The Schwa: Two Guys, a Carport Studio, and a Song Nobody's Heard Yet Episode 39
JR asked Spotify's AI to find bands perfect for this show. This is one of them.
The Schwa is Eric Intile and Cooper Phillips — two college friends from Greenville, South Carolina who met in 8th grade, graduated with music business degrees, built a recording and content studio in a carport, and are now releasing short, sharp power-pop songs that sound like the Black Keys, the Hives, and the Ramones raised them together. Their longest song right now is under two minutes. Their most played song has nearly 7,000 streams. And they showed up to this interview with a list of questions, a live setup, and a song that drops May 27th that nobody else on earth has heard yet.
They also played "Stuck in the Middle" as a two-piece for the first time ever. Live. On the show. With no rehearsal.
In part one, JR reveals the band to Gary. In part two, Eric and Cooper join live — and play.
