Description

Genesis 2:4-15 (English Standard Version) 4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. 5 When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 6 and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— 7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. 8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. 14 And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Wise Wealth | Proverbs 3:9-10; 11:24-25; 30:7-9 | Pastor Owen Hughes

Proverbs 3:9-10English Standard Version 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth     and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty,     and your vats will be bursting with wine. Proverbs 11:24-25English Standard Version 24 One gives freely, yet grows all the richer;     another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. 25 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched,     and one who waters will himself be watered. Proverbs 30:7-9English Standard Version 7 Two things I ask of you;     deny them not to me before I die: 8 Remove far from me falsehood and lying;     give me neither poverty nor riches;     feed me with the food that is needful for me, 9 lest I be full and deny you     and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal     and profane the name of my God.

Wise Work | Proverbs 6:6-11; 10:4-5; 22:29 | Pastor Owen Hughes

Proverbs 6:6-11 (English Standard Version) 6 Go to the ant, O sluggard;     consider her ways, and be wise. 7 Without having any chief,     officer, or ruler, 8 she prepares her bread in summer     and gathers her food in harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard?     When will you arise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber,     a little folding of the hands to rest, 11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber,     and want like an armed man. Proverbs 10:4-5 (English Standard Version) 4 A slack hand causes poverty,     but the hand of the diligent makes rich. 5 He who gathers in summer is a prudent son,     but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame. Proverbs 22:29 (English Standard Version) 29 Do you see a man skillful in his work?     He will stand before kings;     he will not stand before obscure men.

A Heart Worth Keeping

Proverbs 4:20-27English Standard Version 20 My son, be attentive to my words;     incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Let them not escape from your sight;     keep them within your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them,     and healing to all their[a [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%204%3A20-27&version=ESV#fen-ESV-16513a]] flesh. 23 Keep your heart with all vigilance,     for from it flow the springs of life. 24 Put away from you crooked speech,     and put devious talk far from you. 25 Let your eyes look directly forward,     and your gaze be straight before you. 26 Ponder[b [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%204%3A20-27&version=ESV#fen-ESV-16517b]] the path of your feet;     then all your ways will be sure. 27 Do not swerve to the right or to the left;     turn your foot away from evil.

The Paths of Wisdom and Foolishness | Proverbs 4:10-19 | Pastor Owen Hughes

10 Hear, my son, and accept my words,     that the years of your life may be many. 11 I have taught you the way of wisdom;     I have led you in the paths of uprightness. 12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered,     and if you run, you will not stumble. 13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go;     guard her, for she is your life. 14 Do not enter the path of the wicked,     and do not walk in the way of the evil. 15 Avoid it; do not go on it;     turn away from it and pass on. 16 For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong;     they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness     and drink the wine of violence. 18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,     which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness;     they do not know over what they stumble. - Proverbs 4:10-19 (ESV)
