But I’ve been skeptical, because we saw this movie during the BidenHarris years: rosy numbers that later turned out to be fantasy.” Turning Up the Heat on Cuba Raúl Castro’s indictment and the Trump administration’s new sanctions have intensified economic pressure on Cuba, prompting foreign companies to withdraw and cutting off U.S. dealings with the state oil company. The measures further strain an economy already weakened by the collapse of subsidized Venezuelan oil after Nicolás Maduro’s arrest. Critics highlight GAESA’s dominant military run control over much of the economy, framing the regime as corrupt and authoritarian.  👟 TIME TO END TEEN TAKEOVERS Violent teen flashmob incidents have been reported in several U.S. cities, with groups organizing on social media and overwhelming public spaces. Recent cases range from property destruction in Northern Virginia to large disturbances in Tampa, Chicago, and Columbus. Commentary in your excerpt argues that today’s teens lack discipline and calls for stronger enforcement measures, including using video evidence to identify offenders, holding parents accountable, and imposing curfews or mall restrictions.  🎭 ENDLESS ENTERTAINMENT ON THE POLITICAL SCENE Several Democratic candidates are facing scrutiny: Maine’s Graham Platner has been accused of concealing a Nazi themed tattoo, inflating business credentials, and facing multiple misconduct allegations, while Texas legislator James Talarico is being criticized by opponents for presenting himself as a moderate despite past positions on gender affirming care for minors, religion related comments, and immigration rhetoric. Separately, Papa Johns announced plans to close roughly 300 stores, citing shrinking consumer budgets and rising operating costs. 💌 FAN MAIL OF THE WEEK 🦟 SPECIAL INTEREST REPORT: MALARIA MAKING A COMEBACK? Malaria, once eliminated in the U.S., now sees about 2,000 reported cases each year, almost all linked to travelers who return infected. Local transmission can occur when a mosquito bites an infected traveler and then bites someone else, allowing the parasite to spread. Symptoms typically include fever, chills, and headaches, and the disease remains a major global killer, with more than 600,000 deaths in 2024, mostly in Africa. The CDC advises reducing mosquito populations through spraying and using repellant during warm weather evenings to limit risk. ❤️ Let’s Work Together Let’s consciously get along with our neighbors and reduce the violence and discord in our wonderful country.
