Clare will find out their opponents in the quarter final of the All Ireland Camogie Championship this morning. The Banner booked their spot in the last six with a 0-16 to 1-8 victory over Offaly in Birr. Clare will face off against either Waterford or Tipperary in Croke Park this weekend. Boss Euege Foudy says his side showed great determination to grind out the win.
Mistakes Costly Says Shine As Clare Bow Out Of Ladies Football Championship
Clare ladies football boss Graham Shine says mistakes proved costly for his side as they bowed out of the All Ireland Championship. Their campaign came to an end after a 3-13 to 1-8 defeat by Fermanagh in Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chiosóg. Fermanagh raised green flags from consecutive kick-outs in the first half providing them a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Shine says the defeat will be a learning opportunity for his young side.
Joe Cooney On TUSLA Registered Childminders
Just 8 childminders in Clare are registered with the national child and family agency. According to Children's Minister Norma Foley, there are further 24 operators here currently in pre-registration training with TUSLA. It comes amid concerns expressed by industry representatives that red-tape is preventing people from entering the market. Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney says the process needs to be made seamless for childminders.
Council Demanding Answers On Ballycar Flood Works
The Department of Transport is facing pressure to provide a timeline for completion of flood relief works on the Ennis to Limerick rail line. The network has been frequently closed for extended periods in recent years due to flooding at Ballycar near Newmarket-On-Fergus. Although Iarnród Éireann has previously identified a €16.7m solution, no government agency has committed to funding the works. Newmarket-On-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor David Griffin says it's extremely frustrating.
Clare Senator Says There's "Merit" In Air Ambulance Base Proposal
A Clare senator says there's "merit" in a proposal for an air ambulance base in Clare. The call has been made by the Friends of Ennis Hospital campaign group following the airlifting of a GAA player from the Loop Head Peninsula to University Hospital Limerick last week. According to HSE data, one fifth of air ambulance call-outs nationwide come from the Midwest region. Speaking in the Seanad, Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway says many parts of West Clare are simply too far away the Dooradoyle facility.
