Not just behaviour, but the hidden geography of the heart. "If I have walked with falsehood… If my heart has been enticed… If I have rejoiced at my enemy's misfortune." Centuries before the Sermon on the Mount, Job submits his inner life to God's examination. And then throws down the gauntlet: "Let the Almighty answer me." That's not defiance.
