Description

May 28 Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. - Philippians 3:20 The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. - Titus 2:11-14 According to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. - 2 Peter 3:13-14 Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. - Hebrews 9:28 It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” - Isaiah 25:9 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode. June 5 When you have done all that you were commanded, say, We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty. - Luke 17:10 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. - Romans 3:27 What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? - 1 Corinthians 4:7 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:8-10 By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. - 1 Corinthians 15:10 For from him and through him and to him are all things. - Romans 11:36 All things come from you, and of your own have we given you. - 1 Chronicles 29:14 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 4 The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace. - Haggai 2:9 The house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and glory throughout all lands. - 1 Chronicles 22:5 And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’S house. - 2 Chronicles 7:2 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” …He was speaking about the temple of his body. - John 2:19, 21 What once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. - 2 Corinthians 3:10 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. - John 1:14 Long ago, God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in various ways. In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. - Hebrews 1:1-2 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased! - Luke 2:14 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 He himself is our peace. - Ephesians 2:14 The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:7 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 3 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. - Matthew 25:13 Watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man. - Luke 21:34-36 The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. - 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode. June 2 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’S Passover. - Exodus 12:11 Arise and go, for this is no place to rest. - Micah 2:10 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. - Hebrews 13:14 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. - Hebrews 4:9 Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. - Luke 12:35-37 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 1:13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. - Philippians 3:13-15 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 1 The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22 The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. - Exodus 34:6 Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. - Ephesians 4:1,2, 32 The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. - James 3:17 Love is patient and kind. - 1 Corinthans 13:4 Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. - Galatians 6:9 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. - James 5:7,8 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode.
