Walt Disney started drawing cartoons for fun, but he turned those doodles into an empire because he had the courage to go all in. I did the same thing with salsa dancing. I started as an awkward guy with two left feet, but I loved it so much that I eventually bought the studio. You have to stop treating your passion like a cute side interest. Alicia Schaefer went from crafting in her kitchen to being a top seller on Etsy because she decided to treat her art like a real business. You also need to start before you feel ready. I missed out on a 40 million dollar deal for my software company because I was stuck trying to make everything perfect. ✎ You cannot build a business alone. I am an introvert and I used to be too scared to ask for help, which almost made my first company fail. You need to share your journey and find a community. Success also takes a lot of patience. My YouTube channel took five years just to get 2,000 subscribers, but I kept going because I wanted to help entrepreneurs. You have to stay connected to your purpose. If you only chase money, you will quit when things get hard. My salsa partner Alex was the worst student we ever had, but he became our head instructor because he had grit. The plan was to visit the famous Mega Mall, one of the largest in Asia, but the rain had other ideas. As we stepped into the city’s chaos, we quickly realized why malls are a sanctuary here—escaping either the extreme heat or relentless rain. The day took a sharp turn, though, when we saw a stray puppy with a broken leg on the street. ✎ Seeing the dog struggling, we couldn’t just walk by. We bought him some food and tried to catch him, but it was tough with the rain and his fear of people. With help from a security team and after a lot of effort, we finally managed to get him into a carrier. We named him Mega, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how young he was and how hard his life must’ve been. Taking him to the animal hospital was a small step, but it felt like the right one. ✎ Mega’s now at the vet, warm, safe, and finally cared for. The x-rays revealed the extent of his injuries, and he’s starting treatments to get better. Last night was probably the first time in his life he slept indoors and dry. It’s hard not to worry about him, but knowing he’s safe gives some peace. This is called the aggregation of marginal gains, and it is how the British cycling team went from being a joke to dominating the Olympics under the leadership of Dave Brailsford. ✎ To get your life together, you need to stop waiting for permission and start building momentum. One of the best ways to do this is to find your one word, which acts as a filter for every decision you make. For example, my word is belief. You should also reclaim your mornings by not checking your phone and instead putting your heroes in your ears by listening to mentors like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk. Using the regret minimization framework from Jeff Bezos can help you make big choices. Imagine yourself at 85 years old looking back; ask yourself if you would regret not trying. It is okay to suck at the start, and you must give yourself permission to be bad before you can be great. ✎ Building a successful future requires mastering specific skills like AI integration, data analytics, and digital marketing. You also need to learn how to communicate and tell stories that move people. As you grow, you must protect what you build by understanding cyber security. Remember that consistency is more important than being perfect.
