Description

They searched for Nancy Guthrie in the Mariposa corridor near Nogales, Mexico. An anonymous caller said her remains were there, buried near a stream by the border. A volunteer group went out and looked. They didn’t find her. But here’s what that same group found in the same area during broader searches from April to May: more than 25 unmarked graves. At least 32 sets of remains. The ground where someone dropped Nancy’s name is already a graveyard for people nobody has identified. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says it found out about the search from news reports. Not from Mexican authorities. Not through the FBI. From the news. Four months after an 84-year-old woman was taken from her home sixty miles from the border, the investigation crossed into another country and the people running the case were the last to know. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony and Robin to explain what it means for a community when the search for answers leads to a place like that — and whether the investigation has the cross-border capability it needs to bring Nancy’s family anything close to closure. Did Someone Come for the Gems Next Door and Take Nancy Guthrie Instead?

Listeners have been digging into the Nancy Guthrie case since the day she disappeared. One of them found a detail that raises a question the investigation hasn’t publicly addressed: a neighbor of Nancy’s with a YouTube channel showing a high-end vault full of rare gems and minerals. The properties reportedly share a Google Maps pin. For months, the audience has asked whether the people who allegedly took Nancy from her home at two in the morning were actually looking for the house next door.Robin Dreeke, retired FBI behavioral analyst who spent decades in counterintelligence, sits down with Tony Brueski to examine the theory from the ground up. He addresses the operational profile — what wrong-target home invasions look like, whether the level of preparation visible in this case is consistent with a mistaken address, and what the forty-five-minute timeline inside the house tells him about what happened. The masked suspect disabled the doorbell camera. The back doors were propped open. Blood was on the front porch. That’s not random. But neither is hitting the wrong address. The listeners also press on the bigger question: if this wasn’t a wrong-house scenario, what was the actual motive? A blockchain firm’s crypto classification, the ransom communications, and the silence from law enforcement all get examined. Everything the audience has been asking, addressed directly. episode Nancy Guthrie’s Pacemaker Went Dark at 2:28 AM — A Plane Left for Mexico at 4:45 artwork

Nancy Guthrie’s Pacemaker Went Dark at 2:28 AM — A Plane Left for Mexico at 4:45

The cornerstone of the Nancy Guthrie cartel theory is a timeline: Nancy’s pacemaker lost its Bluetooth connection at 2:28 AM and a private jet left Tucson for Puerto Vallarta at 4:45 AM. The internet connected those two events into a narrative that went everywhere. But a physician who spoke on the record to People Magazine explained what the pacemaker’s Bluetooth disconnection actually means — and it’s not what the internet decided. A pacemaker syncs to a phone via short-range Bluetooth. If Nancy was moved away from her phone, even to another room, the connection drops. That’s all the data tells us — her phone and her body were no longer close together. It doesn’t tell us she was in a vehicle. It doesn’t tell us she crossed a border. The private jet was a nineteen-year-old Cessna on a routine route the FBI investigated and moved on from. The suspect’s DNA returned no match in the national criminal database. Every credible source — multiple FBI agents, law enforcement officials, medical professionals — has rejected the cartel theory on the record. Tony Brueski lays out why every piece of this theory falls apart, one verified fact at a time. This is the first in a five-part series holding the most extreme Nancy Guthrie theories against the documented evidence. episode Nancy Guthrie Doesn't Own Crypto — So Who in Her Neighborhood Does? artwork

Nancy Guthrie Doesn't Own Crypto — So Who in Her Neighborhood Does?

Six million dollars in Bitcoin. That was the ransom demand after Nancy Guthrie’s alleged abduction from her home in Catalina Foothills. Nancy is eighty-four years old. She has no known crypto holdings. Zero. So where did that number come from? CertiK, a cybersecurity firm valued at two billion dollars, classified this case as a wrench attack by proxy — a term from the crypto world describing a crime where the target is selected based on digital asset holdings. Their report cited the ransom demand and used the phrase proxy target selection. That phrase means the person who was taken may not have been the person the attackers intended to find. Catalina Foothills is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Tucson. If whoever showed up at Nancy’s address that night was looking for someone with six million in crypto, they may have knocked on the wrong door. And once Nancy had seen them, they couldn’t leave. The investigation has stretched to Mexico, where volunteers have searched near the border after anonymous tips. Twenty-five unmarked graves found. None are Nancy’s. DNA sits at the FBI lab. Jennifer Coffindaffer, contributor to Hidden Killers, walks through what CertiK’s report means and why the real target may be someone nobody’s looked at yet. episode Nancy Guthrie Was Worth Six Million Dollars to Somebody artwork

Nancy Guthrie Was Worth Six Million Dollars to Somebody

Six million dollars in Bitcoin. That was the demand. Not from Nancy. Not for Nancy’s money. Someone took an eighty-four-year-old woman who could barely walk and used her as leverage to force a cryptocurrency transfer from her family. CertiK, a blockchain security firm valued at two billion dollars, has formally classified what happened to Nancy as a wrench attack by proxy. Their 2026 report documents a forty-one percent increase in crypto-related kidnappings globally. In more than half the cases they tracked, the person taken wasn’t the crypto holder. It was someone they loved. A spouse. A child. An elderly parent. But there’s another theory with just as much law enforcement support. The man on Nancy’s porch knew too much about her life to be a random stranger — her schedule, her isolation, the fact that she lived alone — but too little about her property to know the doorbell camera was there. That contradiction points to someone inside Nancy’s orbit who provided the information without ever going near the house. Sixteen days before Nancy disappeared, eighty-three-year-old Gail Crane was taken from her Kentucky home by her own fired caregiver. Found a hundred miles away. That parallel is documented. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer and retired FBI Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program Chief Robin Dreeke examine the crypto theory, the insider theory, and the question at the center of both: who knew enough about Nancy’s life to make this possible? A look back at the most compelling stories of the week. episode Nancy Guthrie’s Caller Described Her Clothes and Pointed to a Grave in Cartel Territory artwork

Nancy Guthrie’s Caller Described Her Clothes and Pointed to a Grave in Cartel Territory

On Mother’s Day, an anonymous man called a volunteer search group in Sonora, Mexico, and said he knew where Nancy Guthrie is buried. He didn’t call the FBI. He didn’t call Pima County. He didn’t reach for the million-dollar-plus reward her family and federal agents have offered for information. He called Buscando Corazones Nogales — a volunteer collective that searches for the missing in some of the most dangerous ground in North America — and told them to go to the Mariposa arroyos west of Nogales with shovels. He described clothing. He described landmarks. He gave a specific location. Fifteen people went. They found nothing. He called again. New directions. They searched again. Nothing. And the ground he pointed them to had already given up thirty-two people before this caller ever mentioned Nancy’s name. These arroyos are not empty desert. They are a known recovery zone for remains. The question is whether Nancy is among them or whether this caller knows that and used it. Robin Dreeke spent his FBI career reading people who construct believable narratives under pressure. He and Tony Brueski walk through every element of this tip — the specificity of the clothing description, the caller’s persistence after the first failure, and the decision to route the information through a volunteer group in cartel territory instead of the law enforcement agencies investigating the case. The pattern mirrors the ransom notes that went to media outlets instead of the FBI. Whether that pattern points to the same source or a copycat operating off public information is the question this episode answers.
