episode Grief. Pain. Loss. - Processing through the passing of my mentor and lead pastor, Jeff Leake cover

Description

Discipleship means modeling. It means “follow me as I follow Christ”. So, this is my best attempt to keep it real, and bring you into the very real emotions I am working through even now. In this episode Jor Talks about loss and how to handle it, or at least, the 10 things he is doing right now to make sure he is appropriately processing loss! This episode is most certainly a tribute to the life of Jeff Leake and all that he did for Jor, but also hopefully useful to those who are currently learning to walk through loss.

episode Why You Can't Hear From God. Learning to Distinguish Voices and Sort Through HIS Voice vs YOURS. artwork

Why You Can't Hear From God. Learning to Distinguish Voices and Sort Through HIS Voice vs YOURS.

Many Christians think they can't hear from God. Other's seem to "hear from God" all the time, but their fruit seems to be more of confusion and inconsistency than the genuine voice of God. At some point, we have to ask a difficult question: Are we hearing from God, or are we blaming God for our own impulses? In this episode, JOR TALKS about one of the biggest reasons people outside the church struggle to take Christians seriously and aims to teach you how to start to hear from God. If you've ever wondered: * "How do I know if it's God or just me?" * "What does God's voice actually sound like?" * "Why do I keep confusing my own desires with God's voice?" ...then this talk is for you. Jor explores practical habits like prayer, fasting, journaling, and mentorship, but we'll especially focus on one overlooked discipline that may be sabotaging your ability to hear God: self-awareness. Maybe what you've been calling a random thought is actually a prompting. Maybe that unexpected compassion is empathy from the Holy Spirit. Maybe that burden you can't shake is an invitation to act. So sit down. Let's analyze what us us so we can see what is God more clearly!

Likability - How to have people who LOVE being around you.

The difference between having influence and not isn’t always about your knowledge, skills, or wisdom. Sometimes it boils down to people just don’t want to be around you for very long. Truthfully? This feels like a not-so-spiritual podcast, but being someone people want to be around is just called being a faithful, holy spirt filled Christian. This week, Jor Talks about the language of INFLUENCE. In this podcast, he dives into how to set people at ease (+ what makes people feel anxious), and what small skills you can incorporate into your daily life to grow how others view you. Leadership, influence, and likeability aren’t about charisma, confidence, or even knowledge. They are often tied to service, love for others, and empathy! All things we can grow in every day! So sit back and consider this question: HOW CAN I be more likeable this week?

Will YOUR Church Thrive in 2040?

In 14 years, a lot of things are going to be different. It's almost hard to imagine how different AI will make our daily life and the experiences we have. Transportation, communication, phones, media, politics will all in some way be effected by AI, and our culture will look and feel different. The Church is not immune to these changes. 2040 will have large implications for the church as well. In this Episode, JOR TALKS about 3 different shifts he believes will take place in every thriving church, and also 9 things that the members of the church will need to do in order to steward the church into the future. For most of these things, it's a needed and necessary shift back towards what the Bible intended anyway! In this episode, Jor calls out internal issues, like comfort, compromise, selfishness, and love of individualization and embrace ancient practices and methods shown to us in the Bible!

episode Why You're Stuck artwork

Why You're Stuck

Are you STUCK? Stuck in your faith? Stagnant? Feeling like church doesn’t “hit” anymore.... or like you don’t even know what’s wrong? This week, Jor Talks about some real (and sometimes uncomfortable) reasons you might be stuck. Maybe you’ve been trying to be someone you’re not; chasing a version of yourself you picked up from Instagram. Maybe you’re bringing a “mask” to God instead of your real self… and wondering why nothing is changing. Jor Talks about what happens when you delay obedience, when bitterness and unforgiveness take root, and how easy it is to fall into self-justifying loops - whether that’s playing the victim, being hyper-critical, or even becoming spiritually prideful. Jor also dives into things we don’t always talk about: avoiding risk and choosing comfort, shutting down emotionally, ignoring conviction, and convincing ourselves “I already know this” so we stop growing altogether. If you’ve been feeling stuck, there’s a reason, and there’s a way out. As you surrender to the Holy Spirit, drop the mask, and actually align your life with what God is saying (even when it’s uncomfortable), you can move forward again. Let’s get you unstuck.
