episode 40 | šŸ’” Your story of struggle + search (and solution) helps others find healing, too cover

Description

We’re often (understandably) anxious about revealing our ā€œtrue selvesā€ to the people around us. When we do, though, the promises of 1 John 1:7-9 manifest (connection and cleansing). Notice— But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It’s hard to walk in the light, though. āļø Jim and Sarah recently shared their story of ā€œwalking in the lightā€ with Beth and me while we were visiting them. They saw the truth of walking into the light firsthand. They experienced it. Whereas we fear people will consider us weak… … they consider us even stronger. Whereas we think they will push us away… … they come closer & we experience true connection + cleansing. āļø Let’s define waking in the light, though… … because our culture has a tendency to over-share on social media ALONG WITH an epidemic of loneliness (no one close to us to share with). ā€œWalking into the light" doesn’t mean you broadcast your hurts to everyone, everywhere. Rather, it entails entrusting your story to those who ā€œhave your six.ā€ Think of it as concentric circles… āœ… A few people get to share all of your story, your struggles, your hurts, and more. They are your safe place. This should include your spouse / significant other and some close friends. 🟠 Some people get to hear ā€œmostā€ of your story. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Many people get to hear ā€œsomeā€ of your story. āŒ Most people get none of it. See the differences? āļø When done in the right way, our stories of struggle + search + solution… they lead to freedom for us AND healing for others, as well. 53 | šŸ™ˆ Is it an inconvenience or a handicap?

Where you are isn’t who you are. It’s just the present location in which you find yourself. šŸ“ I love Myra’s stories about Carl… … he blind husband. (Myra has helped blind Veterans for 30+ years and started a nonprofit, Rewind for the Blind) that elevates this mission… šŸš€šŸš€šŸš€ Ā  ā€œHe was going to do whatever he wanted to do,ā€ she said, speaking of Carl. … ā€œeven if it took a little patience and figuring.ā€ You see? Where you are is NOT who you are. Nor is it where you must remain. But it is where you must begin… āļø Ā  Carl notably said, ā€œLight is overrated.ā€ It tracks with Charlie Boswell’s statement that ā€œBlindness is an inconvenience— not a handicap.ā€ It’s quite a perspective… āœ”ļø Ā  And that leads me to this… Meet people where they are. Blind. Sighted. Whatever. We all carry untapped superpowers and we all have areas that might be— according others— seen as odd, unique, weak, different… Meet people where they are. And then move forward together… 🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌 Ā  Ā  __________ Links you need to know about = ā›³ļø Rewind for the Blind = https://rewindfortheblind.org [https://rewindfortheblind.org]Ā  āļø Donation link for Rewind for the Blind = https://rewindfortheblind.org/donate/ [https://rewindfortheblind.org/donate/]Ā  ______________ šŸŽ™ļø GY6 events = www.GY6.online/events [http://www.GY6.online/events]Ā  šŸ“³ The ā€œbest ofā€ Soul Wholeness audio = www.Jenkins.tv/best [http://www.Jenkins.tv/best]Ā  (free audio course) šŸ”— One-to-one personal coaching = https://www.jenkins.tv/PC [https://www.jenkins.tv/PC]

episode 52 | ā›³ļø How to golf if you're blind artwork

52 | ā›³ļø How to golf if you're blind

How do blind golfers actually golf? And, then… … to make it more applicable for all of us… … what can we take away from that and apply to all of life…? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø I’ll let you in on it. I found three things that make the magic work… ā›³ļøā›³ļøā›³ļø Ā  1ļøāƒ£ = The swing. That is, you must have the correct mechanics. (That’s true whether it’s golf or anything else.) Ā  2ļøāƒ£ = The goal. You’ve got to know where the hole is… How far is it away from you know? How long does it reasonably, actually take to get there… (In life, a lot of people flounder out too soon b/c they didn’t actually prep to go the distance.) Ā  3ļøāƒ£ = The direction. This one is about alignment. Doesn’t matter if you have the right mechanics (i.e., the right kind of swing— on golf or anything else) or the ability to go the distance (i.e., endure) IF you’re moving in the wrong direction… Enduring in the wrong direction? Just means you move further off course… Doing with the right mechanics? Just means you’ll be more efficient at the chaos…. Ā  🚌 Oh, and a pro tip… You’ll find it FAR easier if you do it WITH the right people. Connection and community matter. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø Yeah, this was about golf… … and now about golf. It works in every area of life. episode 51 |ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„Your problem may be your purpose artwork

51 |ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„Your problem may be your purpose

The problem you’re facing may be the very platform God will use to facilitate your purpose and serve others at a higher level… Sounds strange, for sure. We often want to run FROM struggles… šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Charlie Boswell expected to become a pro baseball player. But then something happened. A draft delayed the contract. And then that got punted forever when he was injured in combat… šŸ’„ In time, he adapted the skills he learned from the past… … placed them INTO the struggle he was facing… … and lived a life exponentially greater than anything he might have imagined. āļø Ā  Doesn’t mean it was easy. In fact, it was harder… āœ”ļø Ā  But, this is where GRACE kicks in… When we’re weak, God moves in even stronger (2 Corinthians 12:10). Or, to say it another way, grace moves towards weakness…. šŸ’Ŗ Ā  Now… The details of your story are likely very different than Charlie Boswell’s. But the story… … it can be the story of all of us. That’s how redemption works. 46 | āœļø "Church people" and trauma

In the final of three talks, Beau Armistead and I discuss ā€œchurch peopleā€ and trauma. The church should be the safest place for hurting people to go. Many times, it’s not… … and that’s not necessarily because ā€œchurch peopleā€ are bad. Rather, it’s because we don’t train people in the church to address soul health— any more than we train them to deal with physical health. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Ā  We are all spirit, soul, and body… … and each part, though connected and interrelated, matters. 🧩 Ā  To achieve total wholeness, we need training on addressing all three parts. That is— back to where this thing began two episodes ago— we need info that is: šŸ™ Scripturally solid 🧬 Scientifically accurate 🧐 Simple to understand & apply Ā  Ā  _______________ Links referenced See the GY6 resources, referenced here: www.GY6.online/FG [http://www.GY6.online/FG]Ā  Upcoming GY6 workshops = www.GY6.online/events [http://www.GY6.online/events]Ā  The ā€œBest ofā€ Soul Wholeness, free audio = www.Jenkins.tv/best [http://www.Jenkins.tv/best]Ā  Access the Soul Wholeness video course = www.Jenkins.tv/SWV [http://www.Jenkins.tv/SWV]Ā  Coaching One-to-one personal coaching = https://www.jenkins.tv/PC [https://www.jenkins.tv/PC]Ā  Ā  Links to Sojourn Counseling āļø https://www.sojourncounseling.org [https://www.sojourncounseling.org]Ā  āļø https://atease.org [https://atease.org]

45 | šŸ˜Ž Three awesome (and weird) therapies that actually work

Beau Armistead, the founder and Executive Director of Sojourn Counseling, gave me a quick whirlwind / 30,000 foot overview of three awesomely odd (but helpful) healing modalities. We talk about— šŸ‘‡ Ā  1ļøāƒ£ EMDR / Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — super-effective therapy that alleviates (and even eliminates) traumatic distress by using bilateral stimulation… … and mimics what your brain does while you’re in REM / Rapid Eye Movement sleep. Ā  2ļøāƒ£ Brain Spotting— — a deep dive (i.e., if EMDR is snorkeling, this is scuba diving) into specific areas of distress, based on WHAT & WHERE hurtful / harmful memories are stored… … sometimes, it creates a ā€œspotā€ on the brain. If we can find that PLACE, we can heal the ā€œstuffā€ that’s there. Ā  3ļøāƒ£ Micro-current Neuro Feedback (MCN) — a means of rebalancing the brain through small electrical currents (i.e., think: whereas drugs / pharmaceuticals provide chemical relief, most of the issues in the brain are electrical… so, often, what we do is the equivalent of calling in a plumber when we really need an electrician. Turns out, your brain is neuroplastic. It can be rewired. And, in the same way it can be rewired based on hurts, it can also be rewired based on healing… Ā  ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ For clarity… … I’m not trained or licensed in ANY of those. I’m a teacher, a communicator… Beau is the pro in counseling / therapeutic arena. So, I learned into his wisdom / experience to relay what we could acquire and pass on. _______________ Links referenced See the GY6 resources, referenced here: www.GY6.online/FG [http://www.GY6.online/FG]Ā  Upcoming GY6 workshops = www.GY6.online/events [http://www.GY6.online/events]Ā  The ā€œBest ofā€ Soul Wholeness, free audio = www.Jenkins.tv/best [http://www.Jenkins.tv/best]Ā  Access the Soul Wholeness video course = www.Jenkins.tv/SWV [http://www.Jenkins.tv/SWV]Ā  Coaching One-to-one personal coaching = https://www.jenkins.tv/PC [https://www.jenkins.tv/PC]Ā  Ā  Links to Sojourn Counseling āļø https://www.sojourncounseling.org [https://www.sojourncounseling.org]Ā  āļø https://atease.org [https://atease.org]
