He received a Master of Divinity from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2017, where he focused on Hebrew Bible and biblical languages. He joined the underground Louisville music scene by forming his metal band, Motel, which has headlined some of the best venues in Louisville. Their first album, No Vacancy, was released this year, and they have given a portion of their proceeds to benefit immigration services and women’s rights. Ashton’s heart is driven to speak out against injustice through his music, particularly as the beloved drummer for the worship band at RBC.
