episode Metanoia Meditation (Part 2): Embracing Truth cover

Description

In this meditation, I guide you deeper into the practice of metanoia, the ancient spiritual idea of turning towards truth, light and greater authenticity. This practice invites us to reflect honestly on our lives, not through judgement or condemnation, but through compassionate awareness and openness to growth. We begin by grounding ourselves in the body and breath, allowing the present moment to become a place of stability and peace. From here, the meditation gently opens into self-reflection, inviting you to notice areas of life where greater honesty, integrity or reconciliation may be needed. As the practice deepens, the breath becomes a rhythm of transformation, breathing in light, truth and awareness, while breathing out falsehood, tension and disconnection. Rather than becoming overwhelmed by difficult feelings or memories, you are encouraged to remain anchored in the breath and grounded in the understanding that you are fundamentally loved. This meditation offers a calm and spacious way of facing truth with courage, compassion and peace. This meditation offers a moment of reflection and renewal, helping you cultivate self-awareness, integrity and emotional healing. This meditation supports mindfulness, emotional reflection and contemplative growth. episode Reset Meditation: Recovering the Basic Form artwork

Reset Meditation: Recovering the Basic Form

In this meditation, we return to the basic form of contemplative practice—the simple method that lies at the heart of the Christian meditative tradition. Whether you are beginning your meditation journey, returning after some time away, or simply strengthening your daily practice, this guided meditation offers a gentle return to the foundations. Beginning with a simple ritual gesture, we settle into a stable posture and gradually bring awareness to the body, the breath, our thoughts and our emotions. Without judgement or striving, we learn once again to rest in the present moment, following the breath to the still point at the centre of our awareness. Returning regularly to this foundational practice strengthens the essential skills of meditation: relaxation, attention, presence and openness to divine love. This meditation supports contemplative prayer, mindfulness, stress relief, emotional grounding and developing a stable daily meditation practice. episode Light Meditation: Resting in Divine Light artwork

Light Meditation: Resting in Divine Light

In this meditation, we reflect on one of the most enduring images found throughout the world's spiritual traditions: light. From the opening words of Genesis to the contemplative tradition of Christian prayer, light has always symbolised divine presence, wisdom, compassion and hope. In this practice, we allow ourselves to become aware of that light—not only in the world around us, but also within our own hearts. Beginning with gentle awareness of the breath, we breathe in light and breathe out love, allowing the light of awareness to fill our whole being with warmth, healing and peace. We give thanks for the many forms of light that sustain our lives—from the sun, moon and stars to the light of those whose love illuminates our lives—and ultimately for the divine light that surrounds and sustains all creation. This meditation invites us to become seekers of light, learning to recognise divine presence both within ourselves and throughout the world. It offers support for contemplative prayer, mindfulness, gratitude, emotional healing and cultivating a deeper awareness of God's loving presence. CHAPTERS 00:00 – Introduction: The gift of light in meditation 01:18 – Opening bell 01:31 – Arriving in stillness 02:00 – Listening to the sounds around you 02:31 – Anchoring in the breath 03:23 – Breathing in light, breathing out love 04:16 – Filling the whole body with light 05:15 – Gratitude for the light of creation 06:14 – Resting in divine light 06:53 – Letting light become love 07:42 – Returning to simple awareness of the breath 08:28 – Becoming a seeker of light 09:24 – Returning to the body 10:07 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. This returning to the foundations strengthens the essential skills of meditation: letting go of distraction, anchoring ourselves in the present moment, and opening ourselves to divine presence through the breath. This meditation supports mindfulness, contemplative prayer, stress relief, emotional grounding and developing a consistent daily meditation practice. episode Lectio Divina Meditation: May They Be One artwork

Lectio Divina Meditation: May They Be One

In this Lectio Divina meditation, we reflect on one of the most profound prayers of Christ: "May they be one as we are one." Lectio Divina is the ancient Christian practice of praying with sacred words, allowing a short passage of Scripture to move from the mind into the heart through gentle repetition, silence and contemplation. Beginning with stillness and awareness of the breath, we slowly allow Christ's prayer to echo within us. Rather than analysing the words intellectually, we receive them as an invitation into deeper awareness, allowing their meaning to unfold naturally. As the meditation develops, we gently consider the places where division exists—within ourselves, within our relationships, throughout humanity and within creation itself. Holding these experiences in compassion, we return again and again to Christ's prayer for unity, asking what it might mean to surrender more fully to divine love, reconciliation and peace. This meditation offers support for contemplative prayer, healing, forgiveness, inner peace and spiritual transformation through the ancient practice of Lectio Divina. It can be used as part of a daily meditation practice, during times of conflict or division, or whenever you wish to deepen your awareness of God's presence through Scripture. Chapters: * 00:00 – Introduction: Lectio Divina and today's Scripture * 01:10 – Opening bell * 01:21 – Settling into stillness * 02:10 – Resting in the breath * 03:32 – Introducing the Scripture * 04:20 – "May they be one as we are one" * 05:00 – Reflecting on unity and divine love * 06:00 – Recognising division within ourselves and the world * 07:37 – Surrendering to reconciliation and peace * 08:32 – Returning to the Scripture * 09:20 – Resting in silence * 10:04 – Resolution to seek oneness * 10:39 – Returning to the body * 10:59 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. episode Movement Meditation: Using the Breath and Hands to Deepen Stillness artwork

Movement Meditation: Using the Breath and Hands to Deepen Stillness

In this meditation, we explore how gentle movement can become part of our contemplative practice. While meditation is often associated with complete stillness, the Christian monastic tradition has long incorporated simple physical movements—such as bowing, kneeling and prostration—to help cultivate deeper awareness. In this practice, we combine the rhythm of the breath with the gentle opening and closing of the hands. Beginning with grounding and awareness of the breath, we settle into the still point between each inhale and exhale before allowing our hands to move in harmony with our breathing. As we breathe in, the hands gently close; as we breathe out, they softly open again. This simple practice offers another anchor for attention, making it especially helpful during times of distraction, stress or anxiety. By uniting breath, body and awareness, we discover another pathway into the stillness that lies at the heart of meditation. This meditation supports mindfulness, contemplative prayer, stress relief, emotional regulation and developing deeper concentration through embodied awareness. It can be used as part of a daily meditation practice or whenever you find it difficult to settle into stillness through the breath alone. Chapters: 00:00 – Introduction: Movement within meditation 01:08 – Opening bell 01:20 – Entering the here and now 02:03 – Centring on the breath 02:36 – The still point between breaths 03:19 – Bringing awareness to the hands 03:42 – Breathing with opening and closing hands 04:50 – Noticing breath, movement and stillness 06:40 – Pausing to notice sensations in the hands 08:05 – Movement as an anchor for anxiety or distraction 09:41 – Returning the hands to stillness 10:19 – Resolution for the day 10:32 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
