episode #60 - Say What You Mean | James 5:12 | Built To Last cover

Description

Your words shouldn’t need help. In this episode of The Daily Rebel, we break down James 5:12 and confront the issue of integrity, exaggeration, and empty words. James warns believers not to rely on dramatic promises or extra language to sound believable—but to simply let their “yes” be yes and their “no” be no. We unpack three truths: 1. Simplicity of speech  2. Strength of character 3. Sobriety before God  You’ll hear why integrity removes the need for explanation, how weak character hides behind loud words, and why God takes your speech seriously. You don’t need extra words when your life is honest. Say what you mean…and live it. For Men | Virtue Two: Remember | Daniel 2:20-23 | The Virtues of Daniel

Life has a way of making us forget. One difficult season. One unexpected diagnosis. One financial setback. One broken relationship. One unanswered prayer. Suddenly, years of God's faithfulness seem distant, and fear starts preaching louder than truth. That's exactly where Daniel found himself in Daniel 2. King Nebuchadnezzar demanded the impossible: not just an interpretation of his dream, but the dream itself. Every wise man in Babylon was sentenced to die—including Daniel. Under unimaginable pressure, Daniel did something most men don't. He remembered. He gathered his friends to pray. He sought God before reacting. And when God answered, Daniel worshiped before he worked. Before he spoke to the king, he spoke about God.  Pressure has a way of exposing what we actually trust. Culture tells us to control everything, fix everything, stay busy, stay angry, and stay anxious. Daniel shows us a better way. He reminds us that worship recalibrates perspective. The circumstances hadn't changed—but Daniel had. In this episode, we unpack three gritty truths about remembering God: 1. Remember Who God Is — Your view of God determines your view of everything else. When God becomes small, problems become enormous. When God becomes great, problems become opportunities for Him to move. 2. Remember What God Has Done — One of Satan's greatest weapons is spiritual amnesia. Faith remembers what fear forgets. 3. Remember Before You React — Daniel prayed before he spoke, worshiped before he worked, and remembered before he responded. Wise men don't let emotions lead them. They let truth lead them. Ultimately, Daniel remembered God's faithfulness. We remember something even greater—the cross. Every time fear whispers that God has forgotten you, Calvary reminds you that He never will. The empty tomb is God's permanent declaration that He always keeps His promises. How Men Cultivate Remembrance: * Start every day with the Gospel. Before your phone, remember the cross.  * Keep a record of God's faithfulness. Write down answered prayers, victories, and moments of grace.  * Preach truth to yourself. Don't just listen to yourself—talk to yourself.  * Worship before you worry. Worship restores perspective.  Because the men who stand firm in uncertain times... are usually the men who remember God most clearly. #95 | God Has The Final Word | Romans 8:33 | The Daily Rebel

One of the deepest desires every human heart carries is the desire to belong. We all want to know: Do I matter? Am I wanted? Am I enough? So we spend our lives chasing acceptance through success, relationships, performance, popularity, and achievement. But no amount of approval from people can satisfy what only God can settle. That's why Romans 8:33 begins with one of the most identity-shaping phrases in all of Scripture: "God's elect." Before Paul ever addresses accusations, he reminds believers who they are. Because you'll never walk in confidence until you know whose you are.  The Greek word eklektos simply means chosen—belonging to God. Paul isn't writing this to create arguments about theology. He's writing it to produce assurance. Your identity isn't rooted in your performance. It's rooted in God's grace. Before you ever reached for Him, He reached for you. Before you ever loved Him, He loved you. In this episode, we unpack three powerful truths from Romans 8:33: 1. God Chose You — Grace always makes the first move. Your relationship with God didn't begin because you finally got your life together. It began because God pursued you. 2. God Knows You — Nothing about your life has ever surprised God. Every failure, every struggle, every regret was already known, and He still chose to rescue you. 3. God Keeps You — The God who declared you righteous isn't changing His verdict. Your security isn't built on your grip on God, but on His grip on you. Ultimately, the cross gave you more than forgiveness. Jesus was treated like the guilty one so that, through faith, you could be treated like a son or daughter. The greatest thing about you isn't what you've done. It's whose you are. Final Application: * Where have you been searching for your identity? * In your success? * Your failures? * Your job? * Your relationships? * Your past? * Today... let God have the final word. Because you are not defined by what you've done. You are defined by what Christ has done. episode #94 | God Really Loves You | Romans 8:32 | The Great 8 artwork

#94 | God Really Loves You | Romans 8:32 | The Great 8

"Does God really love me?" Maybe you asked that question after an unanswered prayer. After losing someone you loved. After another battle with sin. After life didn't unfold the way you hoped. We've all been there. But in Romans 8:32, Paul doesn't answer that question by pointing to your circumstances. He points to the cross. Because if you ever begin doubting the love of God, don't look at what's happening around you. Look at what already happened for you. The Father didn't spare His own Son but willingly gave Him up so that sinners like us could become sons and daughters of God.  The cross isn't merely proof that God loved you once. It's the eternal evidence that He loves you still. Paul argues from the greater to the lesser: if God has already given His greatest gift—Jesus—why would He suddenly withhold everything you truly need? He may not give you everything you want, but He will always provide everything necessary to accomplish His purpose in your life. In this episode, we unpack three powerful truths from Romans 8:32: 1. God Gave His Greatest Gift — Love is measured by sacrifice. The greatest gift God could ever give wasn't health, comfort, success, or prosperity. It was His Son. 2. God's Gift Guarantees His Grace — If God didn't withhold Jesus, He won't withhold the grace, strength, wisdom, peace, and presence you need today. 3. Live From What Has Already Been Given — Stop questioning God's heart every time life gets hard. The cross settled God's love forever. Ultimately, Jesus wasn't reluctantly sacrificed. He willingly laid down His life. The Father wasn't cruel. The Son wasn't trapped. Together, in perfect love, they accomplished our redemption. The cross wasn't Plan B—it was God's rescue plan from the very beginning. Final Application: * Where have you been questioning God's goodness? * Where have you mistaken God's silence for God's absence? * Where have you allowed your circumstances to become louder than the cross? * Today... look again at Calvary. Because every time you wonder if God loves you... the cross still answers: "Yes." episode #93 | If God is For Us | Romans 8:31 | The Great 8 artwork

#93 | If God is For Us | Romans 8:31 | The Great 8

Have you ever walked into a room knowing someone had your back? It changes the way you carry yourself. You stand taller. You speak with confidence. You don't panic as easily because you know you're not standing alone. Now multiply that infinitely. Romans 8:31 contains one of the most confidence-building questions in all of Scripture: "If God is for us, who is against us?" But Paul isn't expressing uncertainty. In the original Greek, this is a first-class conditional statement that could be translated, "Since God is for us..." He's not asking if God is on your side. He's declaring that He is.  That doesn't mean opposition disappears. Paul knew better than anyone that Christians face persecution, suffering, temptation, and spiritual warfare. His point isn't that you'll never have enemies. His point is that none of your enemies are greater than your God. When the Creator of the universe stands with you, opposition loses its ultimate power. In this episode, we unpack three powerful truths from Romans 8:31: 1. God's Presence Changes Everything — God's greatest promise has never been an easy life. It's His presence. You never stand alone. 2. God's Power Outweighs Your Problems — Fear grows when your problems become bigger than your view of God. Faith grows when God becomes bigger than your problems. 3. God's Victory Is Your Confidence — We don't fight for acceptance. We fight from acceptance. We don't fight for victory. We fight from Christ's finished victory. Ultimately, how do you know God is for you? Because He gave you His Son. Before Paul reminds us of what God provides, he reminds us of what God already gave. The cross forever settled the question of God's heart toward His children. Final Application: * What opposition feels overwhelming today? * What fear keeps shouting? * What circumstance keeps intimidating you? * Preach Romans 8:31 to yourself: "Since God is for me... who can ultimately stand against me?" Because when the Creator of the universe is in your corner... you don't have to fear who's in the opposite one. episode #92 | What Then Shall We Say? | Romans 8:31 | The Great 8 artwork

#92 | What Then Shall We Say? | Romans 8:31 | The Great 8

Have you ever read something so incredible that you just sat there... speechless? That's exactly where Paul is in Romans 8:31. After eight chapters of unpacking our sin, God's grace, justification, the Holy Spirit, adoption, suffering, assurance, and God's sovereignty, he pauses and asks one simple question: "What then are we to say about these things?" It's not just a transition. It's an invitation. Paul isn't asking what we should do first. He's asking what we should say. Because before the gospel transforms your behavior, it transforms your perspective. Romans 8 isn't merely information to understand—it's truth that should leave us in awe of the God who saved us.  Too often we become so familiar with grace that we stop marveling at it. We know the verses. We know the theology. But we've lost the wonder. Paul reminds us that healthy theology always produces heartfelt worship. The more you understand the gospel, the more amazed you become by Jesus. In this episode, we unpack three powerful responses to God's grace: 1. Remember What God Has Done — Never lose your wonder. Gratitude grows wherever remembrance lives. Don't forget where Jesus found you or what He rescued you from. 2. Respond With Worship — The goal of theology isn't simply to make you smarter. It's to make you surrender. Truth should always move your heart toward worship. 3. Rest In What God Has Said — Your confidence isn't built on your circumstances. It's built on God's unchanging character. When life gets loud, preach the gospel to yourself. Ultimately, everything Paul has written points to Jesus. He removed our condemnation. He fulfilled the Law. He sent the Spirit. He adopted us into God's family. He secured our future. The gospel isn't merely something to believe. It's Someone to adore. Final Application: * When was the last time you intentionally remembered what Jesus saved you from? * Has your relationship with Jesus become routine instead of remarkable? * What truth from Romans 8 do you need to preach to yourself today? Because don't become so familiar with the gospel... that you stop being floored by it.
