episode Habits Die Hard cover

Description

Drawing from one of John’s 20 books, this episode will explore 10 steps to building successful habits. We are all creatures of habit, and if you make good habits, good habits will make you. This wisdom has been around since ancient times. Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” The subconscious mind – the “habitual” mind – is over one-million times more powerful than the conscious mind. This means that we spend a substantial amount of our lifetime on “autopilot,” playing out the latent mental programs that govern our behavior. The subconscious mind is so vast and powerful that we do not even know what it is thinking or capable of. It truly runs our lives – whether we know it or not.  As creatures of habit, many people struggle with breaking habits. In this episode of The Change Mastery Show, John will help you through this very common, very challenging life experience by giving you ten steps to replace destructive habits with successful ones. If you have habits you intend to change, please join us and share this episode with others.   You will discover: * How to exchange bad habits for good habits. What are some practical and useful steps for making this transition? * The Ten Steps: Where do I begin and how do I finish? * Maintain the Gain: How do I avoid falling back into old habits?

How do we help our kids deal with the stressful events in our country today?

In this episode in our series during the month of July, with all the stressful events going on in our country today, I thought it would be helpful to think about what we can do to help our kids understand some of the difficult events happening in our country today from ICE raids, killings and shootings.  We can get caught up in a cycle of repetition and habits when we are overwhelmed by life and our responsibilities.  Later, we can look back and wish that we had been more thoughtful about how to address certain events in the life of our family better, especially when it comes to our children. Parenting is the best and most challenging job of our lives.  On most days, it requires our full attention, is hard work, and can use up much of our energy.  It is also made up of some of the sweetest moments of our lives, and we would not trade it for the world.   With all that is happening in our country today, It is helpful to teach our children how to manage the uncertainties of life at the level they can understand.
