episode 5-2-26: Integris Community Hospitals reaching across Oklahoma cover

Description

Access to health care is one of the biggest challenges facing many communities across Oklahoma. In some parts of the state, patients may have to drive 30, 40 or even 60 miles to reach a hospital or emergency department!! When someone is experiencing a medical emergency or needs timely care, those distances can create real barriers. That’s where partnerships between leading health systems like INTEGRIS Health and companies like Emerus come in. Together, they’re bringing small-market neighborhood hospitals closer to where people live, work and spend their time. Listen in for an informative discussion with Carli Hicks, BSW, Regional Business Development Manager at INTEGRIS Health Community Hospital. We’ll discuss that these facilities provide 24/7 emergency care, imaging, laboratory services and inpatient beds, allowing patients to receive hospital-level care without long drives to larger regional medical centers. By locating high-quality facilities in the communities they serve, these hospitals help reduce travel times, shorten wait times and strengthen the overall health care network across Oklahoma. Ultimately, it’s about making sure residents have access to trusted care within minutes –not miles. Integris Carli Carli Hicks, BSW started her healthcare career 15 years ago. Growing up she had a very close relationship with her great-grandmother and that attributed to her wanting to help seniors in some capacity when she became an adult. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Social Work at Southwestern State University. Carli has been in Healthcare Business Development for 15 years. Whether it’s aches, pains, bumps, or breaks, the care you need is right around the corner. At INTEGRIS Health Community Hospitals, we offer short ER wait times, onsite diagnostics, and care from board-certified physicians. That means you can get the answers and treatment you need, without the long wait. The best part? They are open 24/7, with 4 convenient locations right in your neighborhood. So, when the unexpected happens, you know where to go for fast, high-quality care close to home. To learn more, Visit integriscommunityhospital.com.

6-13-26: VillagesOKC Volunteer & Member Johni Wardwell

Avid VillagesOKC Volunteer & Member Johnina (Johni) Wardwell of Yukon, Oklahoma joins us to tell us all about VillagesOKC.org (A Plan, Not a Place) For readers and listeners of the Oklahoma Senior Journal who may not be familiar with VillagesOKC, join us as we visit with Johni and learn about the organization’s mission and who it serves. VillagesOKC is part of the larger network, a global movement that began 25 years ago in Boston, MA. It started with a few neighbors who wanted to remain in their own homes and didn’t want to lean on their family (or had no family.) Our Village in OKC is the only one in the state of Oklahoma and is focused on education, connection, volunteering, and providing trusted resources from handymen to caregiver support. Listen to this OSJ radio hour! and read about VillagesOKC in the current OSJ magazine on page 53. (It’s the 34th year of OSJ in print!) Johni, VillagesOKC Johnina (Johni) Wardwell grew up in southern Indiana and was married to Major Loren Wardwell for 55 years. A lifelong educator, community advocate, and avid VillagesOKC volunteer, she has served in every community she’s called home. Since moving to Yukon in 2019, Johni has found VillagesOKC to be a meaningful way to stay engaged, serve others, and make a difference.

We have Johnny Moore with Heartland Hospice in the Rise & Thrive OSJ Radio Studio this Saturday at 9:05FM on 96.7FM Radio… AND on 1,700 podcast platforms! We also have many more questions that will be answered by our expert Johnny Moore of Heartland Hospice. We will also discuss their “Heartland Wish Program”. Hospice is a needed connection between the family and the client … it is a beautiful thing that is provided at no cost to the family or client.
