Atlantic Street and 1 & 3 Atlantic Street

218 and 219 Ashley Ave

218 Ashley Ave the Church of the Holy Communion. This congregation was organized in 1848 in the home of the Rev. Nathaniel Bowen. The commandant of the nearby Federal Arsenal was present and offered a room at the Arsenal fro the purpose of worship.  219 Ashley Ave Henry Buck was a German grocer who built a two and a half story wooden store and residence. Buck was an ardent horseman who raced horses on Wagners racetrack at the Grove. 192 and 216 Ashley Avenue

176 Ashley Ave Wickliffe (John Hume Lucas) House

This outstanding Greek Revival mansion was built by John Hume Lucas who was a wealthy planter. Drayton Hall

Drayton hall is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian Palladian architecture in the United States. Its grounds represent one of the most significant, undisturbed historic landscapes in America. Construction of the house was begun in 1739 by John Drayton, and 7 generations of the Drayton Family lived there until 1974, when the family transferred the property to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. A rare survival, the house had only a few coats of paint in its history and was never upgraded with plumbing or electricity.
