Description

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] You can be doing “all the right things” and still feel like your body is stuck in quicksand. I see it constantly: people lift, they do cardio, they clean up their nutrition, and yet they wake up tight, stiff, achy, and low on energy. That pattern is typical in modern life, but it is not normal, and it is not something you have to accept as your new baseline. I walk you through three core reasons this happens, starting with the one that surprises most gym-goers: you may not be moving enough throughout the day. Long hours of sitting shape your joints, hips, and upper back in ways a single workout cannot undo. From there we get into the deeper driver many people ignore: chronic stress. When your nervous system lives in fight or flight, your muscles stay guarded, tension piles up, and it becomes harder to sleep, digest well, and truly recover. Then we bring it home with the third piece: you are not actually recovering. Real recovery means sleep, downtime, and consistent practices that shift you into the parasympathetic state. I also add a bonus that fixes more “mystery stiffness” than you would think: under-hydration and under-fueling, especially not getting enough water and protein. Finally, I explain why I brought therapeutic massage and movement care back into my work at Transformed Health Initiative, because bridging training and recovery is often the missing link to feeling better right now. If you’re tired of feeling tight all the time, hit play, share this with a friend who needs recovery, and subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next. 76. Why Your Body Adapts (And Why Most People Never Realize It)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] Gravity is undefeated and it is asking your body a question all day long: can you handle me? That single idea reshapes how we think about human performance, functional fitness, and why training actually works. When stairs start feeling harder or getting off the floor feels awkward, the movement did not change. Your body’s ability to solve the movement problem changed. We break down the hidden mechanics behind everyday motion, from balance and force absorption to the ground reaction force that literally pushes back every time your foot hits the floor. Movement is not just muscles contracting. It is your nervous system coordinating joints, strength, stability, and timing to interact with real world forces efficiently. When that coordination improves, movement feels smooth. When it does not, you see stiffness, compensation, and rising stress in places like knees, shoulders, and low back. From there, we zoom out to adaptation: your body becomes what your environment repeatedly demands. Sitting for hours, avoiding a painful joint, never challenging balance, or consistently strength training and walking each push adaptation in a direction. That is why we stop obsessing over “perfect” exercises and start training abilities. The same squat can build confidence, rebuild trust after injury, improve bone density, or simply help you feel capable again. If you want a body that supports the life you want to live, this conversation gives you a clearer lens and a more hopeful path forward. 75: The Difference Between Working Out And Building A Body That Performs

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] You’ve been exercising consistently, trying to eat better, and doing all the things you’re supposed to do. So why doesn’t your body feel better? In this episode of the Human Performance Series, Coach Adam explores the difference between simply working out and actually building a body that performs. We discuss why effort alone doesn’t always produce results, why soreness and exhaustion aren’t the same thing as progress, and why the real goal of training should be adaptation—not just activity. Whether you're just getting started or you've been exercising for years and still feel frustrated with your progress, this episode will help you understand Human Performance through a different lens. Because the goal isn't just to work out. The goal is to build a body that supports the life you want to live. Topics covered: • The difference between exercise and adaptation • Why effort doesn't always equal progress • The Human Performance perspective on health and fitness • Strength, capability, and resilience for real life • Why the gym is a practice field, not the destination Live Transformed is the official podcast of Transformed Health Initiative (THI), where we help people build the strength, capability, and resilience to live life on their terms. 74. The Question That Changed Everything

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] Most people think they're pursuing weight loss, muscle gain, strength, better mobility, more energy, or improved health. But what if those goals are actually serving something bigger? In Episode 1 of the THI Human Performance Series, we explore the question that ultimately led to the development of the THI Human Performance Philosophy. This conversation challenges the traditional way many people think about health and fitness and introduces a broader perspective centered on helping people build a body that supports the life they want to live. From athletes and fitness enthusiasts to busy parents, professionals, retirees, and individuals recovering from injury, the goals may look different on the surface, but the underlying desire is often the same: greater capability, greater freedom, and the ability to fully participate in life without being limited by the body. This episode explores why health is about more than body fat percentages, workout programs, or numbers on a scale. It examines the connection between movement, strength, recovery, nutrition, resilience, and quality of life, while introducing the foundational ideas behind Human Performance and how they apply to people of all ages, goals, and life stages. Whether the goal is improved performance, better health, more confidence, increased energy, or simply the ability to keep doing the things that matter most, this episode lays the foundation for a new way of thinking about what health and fitness are truly for. 73: 5 Perimenopause Myths That Are Holding Women Back

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] Your body is changing and that can be confusing, frustrating, and honestly scary. What we refuse to accept is the story that perimenopause and menopause automatically mean weight gain, weakness, low energy, and a slow slide into “this is just my life now.” We take that head-on with evidence-based coaching perspective and real-world clarity, especially for women who have been sold extremes, guilt, or quick fixes. We walk through five stubborn myths that keep women stuck: the idea that your metabolism is broken, that you cannot build muscle anymore, that you should stop lifting heavy and just do more cardio, that weight gain is inevitable, and that feeling exhausted or uncomfortable is simply your new normal. Along the way we connect the dots between hormone shifts, appetite regulation, stress load, sleep quality, recovery needs, daily activity levels, and lean muscle mass so you can see what is actually happening without blaming yourself. Then we get practical. We talk about why resistance training is a cornerstone for menopause fitness and healthy aging, supporting muscle mass, bone density, insulin sensitivity, function, and independence. We also highlight the “smarter basics” that matter even more now: adequate protein, consistent strength training, daily movement, stress management, recovery, and sleep. The goal is not to become 25 again. The goal is to feel the best you can in this season, with a plan that fits your life. If someone you love is in her late 30s and beyond and has been fed myths or told to just toughen up, share this with her. Subscribe for more evidence-based health and fitness, leave a review, and send us a message with the myth you want us to tackle next. 72. Building A Body You Are Proud To Live In

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2424040/fan_mail/new] Your body can look strong and still feel like it’s one bad night of sleep away from falling apart. We’re drawing a hard line between training for appearance and training for a life you can actually enjoy, because the goal isn’t just to look fit. The goal is to feel capable in your own skin: less stiffness, fewer nagging aches, more energy, and more confidence doing normal things like carrying loads, getting off the floor, reaching overhead, and moving through your day without bracing for pain. We walk through why “movement quality” matters so much, especially as adulthood gets busier and stress piles up. If you’ve ever done all the “right” workouts and cleaned up your nutrition but still felt worn down, this conversation helps you name the missing piece. We talk about building mobility, stability, coordination, and control without chasing perfect form or turning your life into endless mobility drills. The real test is simple: does your training give you more options in the real world? From there, we dig into resilience as an underrated fitness goal and why strength training supports long-term health, independence, and function. Strength gives you options, but it works best when you pair it with smart recovery, because adaptation happens after the workout. Sleep, stress management, walking, hydration, and nutrition all play a role in whether your body can actually rebuild and improve. If you want a body that serves you, not just a body that photographs well, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a quick review with the one change you’re making to train for real life.
