Building a Player-Led Culture | Berlin Adler Captains

This is not your typical podcast. In fact, this session is a leadership seminar designed specifically for the Berlin Adler Captains and focused on one central idea: Great teams become player-led. Throughout the seminar, the captains explored what leadership really means beyond titles, coin tosses, or pregame speeches. The conversation centered around protecting the culture, setting the standard, and becoming a “keeper of the flame” for the team. Topics included: * accountability * communication * leadership under pressure * handling adversity * and the responsibility captains carry inside the locker room Adler coaches also joined the discussion throughout the session, reinforcing the message and sharing their own expectations and perspectives on leadership within the program. The seminar concluded with a leadership “final exam,” where captains were given real team scenarios and challenged to explain how they would respond as leaders in difficult moments. Because leadership is not theoretical. Eventually every captain faces moments where culture either grows stronger… or begins to fade. Player-led teams don’t happen by accident. Somebody has to bring the wood.
