1. ‎We are to patiently endure during suffering (v. 10). *The Old Testament is important *Being saved does not exempt us from trials. 2. We must trust in God's compassion and mercy (v. 11). Five lessons from Job: *God blesses those who endure *Endurance does not imply perfection, but it does require submission *Endurance is connected to our belief in God's sovereignty *God has a purpose for our suffering * Never doubt God's goodness or love

Patience that Prospers

1. Patience that prospers is cultivated in the heart (vv. 7-8) 2. Patience that prospers is evident in our speech (v. 9a) 3. Patience that prospers is anchored in Christ’s imminent return (v. 9b)

Riches that Rot

1. Money can deceive us (vv. 1-3) 2. Money can destroy us (vv. 4-6) Application: *Be wise: Live with eternity in view *Be content: Enjoy what you have *Be generous: Give to bless others

The Lord's Will

1. Making plans in our arrogance is frustrating, futile, and foolish. 2. Entrusting our lives to the Lord is good and right.

Humble Submission

1. ‎Submit to God (v. 7a). 2. Resist the devil (v. 7b). 3. Draw near to God (v. 8a). 4. Repent of sin (vv. 8b-9). 5. Humble yourself (v. 10).
