E01: The Israeli Moving Scam

Our first episode is an anonymous submission from 'Green Goose' in Israel who chose to document something he/she refers to as the Israeli Moving Scam. Green Goose says that Israel has been struggling in recent years to combat its economic underworld — including disreputable international scam industries like forex and binary, which were documented in The Times of Israel (see: The Wolves of Tel Aviv [https://www.timesofisrael.com/the-wolves-of-tel-aviv-israels-vast-amoral-binary-options-scam-exposed/]). In this our first public submission, Green Goose describes his/her first-hand experience directly encountering the moving scam: a coordinated international crime operation which involves Israeli movers in American setting up customer service operations in Israel which dissemble at being based in the US, thereby frustrating, or at least greatly impeding, international prosecution. Green Goose describes his/her recruitment after answering an online advert while between jobs, the techniques used by the underworld operatives to rip US customers off and hold their goods for ransom, and his/her quick exit after realizing that the operation was a scam. Green Goose was at pains to highlight that the economic underworld constitutes a small part of the Israeli economy and that efforts are afoot to prosecute the crime — although given its nature that is no easy feet.
