Break the Cycle

Break the Cycle

Podcast by Aadhar Malhotra

We’re living a cycle. We wake up, get through the day, sleep and repeat. Most of us crave connection through cellphone screens, live in self-doubt, and question our purpose. We’re caught up chasing things that are temporary and holding on to limitations others have set for us. But here’s the thing — it doesn’t have to be this way. On this podcast, we bring you stories from people who broke the pattern and brought their authentic selves for the world to see. Join us every week for discussions ranging from health and mindset development, to business and politics, and more.

Break The Cycle - Episode 31: Resilience

It’s been a little over a year since we all ended up working from our homes and while I do prefer the ability to be able to do more things in my day thanks to a drop in commute time, the increasing work demands presented a different kind of challenge. Of course, there are several reports of people facing burnout, mental health challenges, and straight up quitting jobs to take much needed breaks from professional life. A word many of us have been seeing lately is, resilience. Resilient people, resilient economies, resilient businesses. But how do you become resilient at a time which none of us could ever imagine being prepared for? That a question, Samir is going to help me with. Samir Macwana is a certified Business Continuity Management professional and coach and has been helping companies and teams become resilient in the face of overwhelming odds today. This episode is super actionable and goes straight to point so we hope you use the information here for yourself. I hope you get from this what I did. Break The Cycle - Episode 30: Optimal Health

I have been obsessed with the topic of Health and Wellness for the better part of a decade and it is only over the past 2-3 years where I have begun to finally understand that there is more to this than just physical fitness and proper nutrition. We are moving towards a new paradigm where we are focusing on all the possible means available to us to live healthier, happier, and longer lives - physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, and environmentally. The trouble is, we have so much information around that it is hard to figure out what works and what needs to be discarded immediately. So I reached out to Dr. Marcus Ranney to help me understand this vast subject. Dr. Marcus Ranney's career journey over the past two decades have led him from the patient's bedside to a wider stage as he now creates global impact via systemic change by championing wellbeing. Completing his Bachelors of Science and Medical degrees from University College Medical School in London his passion for extreme physiology has allowed him to conduct field research across the planet. A published best selling author, keynote speaker, digital talk show host and public health commentator, he has been a World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper and more recently appointed as a Senior Fellow to the Atlantic Council, working on a project exploring the relationship between the climate crisis and planetary health. A champion of wellbeing, Marcus is a big believer that sustainably improving the lives of billions of people the world over can only be brought about by enhancing the positive aspects of health rather than focusing solely on pathogenesis and disease. I hope you enjoy the episode. Link to Dr. Marcus' book - https://www.amazon.in/At-Human-Edge-P... Break The Cycle - Episode 29: The Martial Way

Those who know me and know this channel, are familiar with my love for martial arts. I have been training for the past 10 years and during this period, I have exposed myself to various systems. I have also witness debates about what martial arts represent and unfortunately, the true essence of martial arts, which is beyond (but does include) fighting is rarely discussed. So I decided to speak to the man who is the source of my knowledge - Shifu Kanishka Sharma. Most of you know him as the first Indian to be trained at and authorized officially as a representative of the Shaolin Temple in India as well as the official mentor of the Special Forces in India. He is also the official representative of Progressive Fighting Systems and Contemporary Jeet Kune Do under Sifu Paul Vunak. He has trained and mastered 14 different martial art systems, including but not limited to, Shaolin Kung Fu (and Sanshou), Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do (Under Sifu Sitta Wang as well as Sifu Vunak), Muay Chaiya, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, Balintawak and Tai Chi. I speak to him about what the purpose of martial arts truly is, the perception that Shaolin monks (and traditional martial artists) can't fight, and why no one really talks about the healing aspect of martial arts. Break The Cycle - Episode 28: Curiosity

This is an episode for me! Why? Because I love the learning that a meandering conversation can bring. There is a certain level of curiosity one needs to find the nuggets of learning in most inane conversations and believe me, the lesson is always worth it. But I wasn't always like this. Thankfully, I had Adarsh to whip my ass in shape over every single phone call we had. Adarsh Nalam is a communication consultant and corporate ghostwriter by profession and (as much as he would hate me for saying this), one of the greatest 'thinking-doers' I know of. This is a conversation that touches various subjects but the underlying theme is simply this - here's two men bonding over things they are curious about. You can reach out to Adarsh at https://www.linkedin.com/in/adarshnalam/ I hope you get from this what I did. Do let me know what you think of the show by writing to me at aadharmalhotra@gmail.com. Break The Cycle - Episode 27: Sleep better

The statement, "I'll sleep when I'm dead" may very well be the reason you die early. Sleep is essential for optimal health. In fact, it's a non-negotiable. But not all sleep is equal. A number of factors need to be taken into consideration when we're talking about optimal sleep. So I brought in Aprameya Rajput to help me understand how to sleep better. Aprameya is India's first BRPT certified clinical sleep health expert. He has has more than 7 years experience in patient counseling for those requiring support in managing sleep disorders such as Sleep Apnea, Insomnia, Circadian Rhythm Disorders among others. You can reach out to Aprameya at https://www.morpheushealthcare.com/pages/aprameya-rajput. Follow this man on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/aprameyarajput/). I really hope you enjoy the show.
