“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream, and find out why they’re falling in.” - Nelson Mandela Hello Beautiful Human! Dr. Jocelyn Foran’s story is different. She’s not just a physician, she’s a longtime patient, too. As a child, she watched and helped her mother battle rheumatoid arthritis. That’s what pushed Jocelyn toward medicine in the first place. As an adult, she developed ulcerative colitis herself. Doctors told her diet had nothing to do with it, aside from one ingredient in processed dairy (carrageenan). Meanwhile, she had a career as an anesthesiologist and was raising three children, all while unintentionally losing weight, losing sleep, struggling to control her bowels, and watching her medication grow less effective by the day. Then a colleague mentioned the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, developed to help with celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She tried it. Within days, everything changed for the better. She moved on to Paleo, then Keto, and finally Carnivore. Her gastroenterologist was supportive, but still promoted drugs. Jocelyn wishes the medical system understood diet as a foundational treatment, not an afterthought. She mentions how Abraham Flexner’s 1910 report, reshaped medical school curriculums across North America, and locked in the “pills only” approach we still see today. Dr. Foran tells us why glucose is so toxic to the body, and how Carnivore works by keeping carbs and insulin as low as possible. As her own health improved, she was able to taper off the now-failing medications she’d relied on for years. Her larger point? Modern medicine is incredible at acute care. Broken bone, get it fixed. But chronic illness is a different story. They treat symptoms, not root causes. That’s exactly why she brings up Mandela’s “going upstream” quote. Today, Dr. Foran has a metabolic coaching practice through her website Upstream Metabolic Medical (link below), and shares videos on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok about how very low carb and Carnivore diets can transform chronic illness. Dr Foran is heading upstream, and she wants to bring all of us with her. I’m on board. Are you? CONNECT WITH DR. The Fat She Was Afraid to Eat Changed Her Life S3E35

Kazumi Evener tried everything to get healthy, including Whole 30, Keto, and Atkins. She was a dedicated runner and a lifelong dieter, but something was always off. When she found Carnivore, she didn’t get it right at first. She restricted fat, limited her food intake, and kept herself undernourished without realizing it. She was running during the day but binge eating sweets at night, still fighting a sugar addiction she couldn’t shake. The turning point came when she finally gave her body the animal fat it was asking for. Adding adequate fat to her Carnivore diet changed everything. Her hormone balance stabilized, and after years of missing her menstrual cycle on and off, it returned on a regular basis. Her anxiety calmed. Her energy came back. The nighttime sugar binges stopped. Kazumi’s story is a powerful reminder that Carnivore isn’t just about cutting carbs. It’s about nourishing your body completely, and animal fat is the piece most people get wrong at the start. She now shares her journey and ongoing Carnivore success with a growing community on Instagram, showing others what’s possible when you stop restricting and start healing. 🥩 FOLLOW Kazumi on Instagram: @optimallifewithkazumi where she welcomes and answers questions about the Carnivore diet. She Was the Perfect Vegan. She Was Miserable. S3E34

Fourteen years vegan. Ulcerative colitis. Chronic acne. And a body that kept sending her signals she finally couldn’t ignore. Josie Lieder, aka The Ex-Plant Eater, did everything the plant-based world told her to do, and paid for it with her health. When she made the switch to carnivore, her colitis symptoms vanished and her skin cleared and tightened up. Bloating, bleeding gums, brain fog and anxiety cleared. Now she has great energy, better sleep, and heals quicker than before from minor cuts and bruises, and more. What started as a last resort became a complete transformation, and now she’s one of the most compelling voices speaking out about what the vegan diet can do to a body over time. Josie is the author of the upcoming book ‘Coming Around to Carnivore’, releasing August 11, 2026 (link below), on several YouTube channels, and she’s set to take the stage at Meatstock 2027 in Nashville on a panel of former vegans. Her story isn’t just about food. It’s about what happens when lived experience finally overrules ideology. In this episode, Jodie walks us through her 14-year journey, the health crisis that forced her hand, the moment carnivore changed everything, and why she’s now dedicated to helping others find their way out of the same trap. If you’ve been plant-based and something feels off, this conversation might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Carnivore Fat Loss Secrets | Michele Andrews S3E33

What does it actually take to lose fat and keep it off on Carnivore? Michele Andrews has been in the trenches coaching real people through real transformations, and she’s not holding back on the secrets that are actually moving the needle. Michele is a Carnivore fat loss coach, fitness coach, and dancer who brings a whole-person approach to what most people treat as a numbers game. In this episode she pulls back the curtain on the key secrets inside her coaching program, and it’s a lot more than just “eat meat and lose weight.” She tells us about her individualized coaching and why cookie-cutter plans keep failing people, nutrition education that actually sticks, and the eating disorder and body image baggage so many of us are quietly carrying into this lifestyle. Michele doesn’t skip the hard stuff. Mindset and mental healing aren’t a side conversation here, they’re central to the whole process. She understands that the psychological weight we carry is often heavier than anything showing up on the scale. We also cover HRT and peptides, what Michele thinks about fasting for fat loss, and the fitness and movement piece that ties it all together. She’s a dancer as well as a coach, and that shows in how she talks about the body, not as something to punish into submission, but as something to work with. We dig into body recomposition, meal timing, metabolism, and why so many women especially are under-eating and over-struggling without ever getting the results they’re after. If you’ve been spinning your wheels, if you’ve tried everything and still feel stuck, or if you’re just starting out and want to do this right from the beginning, this conversation is for you.
