“A lot of people don’t have proper outlets to express their feelings or really be themselves. For me, the hardcore community has been super open and willing to hear me out and see me express myself and really fit into the person that I am.” In this weeks episode, I talk with Elle from the band “Iced”. We discuss the local scene in Eugene, how hardcore helps them to be a better person, and their amazing zine by assault survivors.

“Filipinos are out here; they’re everywhere. I mean, we’re taking care of your grandmothers, taking care of the veterans, we’re on them cruise ships doing your entertainment. Filipinos are everywhere, doing everything, and I’m just so proud of us and who we are in the world. I think it’s coming where Filipinos will become a lot more respected in entertainment”

“I wrote my songs for indigenous youth and I wrote my songs in hope that it would encourage them to have their own bands and make their own music. If that’s our impact is that there are more indigenous youth who start hardcore bands or bands in general that’s all we want”  What an incredible time I had sitting down with Tish from With War. On this podcast we talk about With Wars music, missing and murdered indigenous womxn and girls, and how they hope to make an impact on the indigenous community. Ep. 2- Anna from Bruce

This week I had the absolute gift of interviewing the wonderful Anna from the Portland punk band Bruce. We sat down to talk about how their music is fighting white supremacy, unrealistic expectations of body image, and creepy dudes at punk shows. “We talk about these serious things but f**k you have to laugh about it. The world is so dark that’s why I put on glitter and laugh really f***ing loud”. Addressing serious issues with a sense of charm and levity is what this band does best. Hope you like listening x
