Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla
In this Daily Devotion for August 4, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 76:1-3, where God chooses a specific place to dwell among His people, Salem, an old name for Jerusalem. There He is not a distant idea but a God near enough to find, and there He breaks the weapons of war, shattering the tools of violence completely. This devotion connects that ancient pattern to worship today. God still chooses to dwell among His people, coming near through preaching, through the water of Baptism, and through the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper, where Jesus gives His true body and blood. And in that place, weapons are still broken, not iron weapons, but the guilt that once condemned you and the power sin held over you. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, freely given through Christ's finished work. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, where every accusation against you has already been shattered for good. So when you gather to worship, remember what is happening. God has established His dwelling among His people again, and in His presence, the weapons raised against you have already been broken. Subscribe for weekly sermons and Daily Devotions.
