In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon celebrates a pro-life win in South Australia, although notes the next stages will be difficult. He also agrees with the changes to New Zealand’s medical council leadership, noting that professional groups should not be imposing often contentious political and cultural views on members. Keeping in the positive spirit, he thanks Winston Peters for recent directions to MFAT to focus on its core job, and not promoting some causes and not others. He then turns his attention to Erica Stanford’s comment that a U16 social media response is coming in a few weeks and her calling out immigration officials who misled her. Simon agrees with viewers that all involved with this misleading should be sacked. He ends with a quick discussion of why the TV series, Doctor Who, has effectively been cancelled after replacing its popular storytelling with woke narratives, diversity hires, and endless political lectures.

Family Matters - MP Jenny Marcroft on Standing Up for Reality

Standing up for reality! Simon O'Connor speaks with New Zealand First MP, Jenny Marcroft MP, about her Member’s Bill to define what a woman and man are. Titled the Legislation (Definition of a Woman and a Man) Amendment Bill, it was created to return common sense and legal clarity. Jenny explains that the move to draft the legislation was prompted in 2023 by Family First’s petition and also discussions that New Zealand First had with voters during the election campaign. Jenny explains how “policy drift” has eroded women’s sex-protected rights, citing community concerns about school bathrooms and changing facilities, women competing against biological males in sport, and biological males being housed in female prisons. #familyfirstnz @nzfirst

Solid Ground - 16 June 2026

In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon welcomes breaking news that the Minister of Health has replaced the leadership of the Medical Council. This body oversees the key medical competencies needed for doctors, yet has become captured by ideologies including critical race theory. He then goes through events in New Zealand and overseas illustrating the increasing absurdity of the trans lobby. From a male wrestler (by identifying as a woman) sexually assaulting a girl he was competing against, to the company Lush promoting mutilating surgery – Simon encourages viewers to put in a submission on the ‘what is a woman’ Bill. Simon also discusses the UK’s decision to ban under-16-year-olds accessing social media, though questions how they are doing to do this effectively. He also notes the euthanasia question is back on the UK parliamentary agenda despite the last Bill having just been defeated. He wraps up discussing the latest, and arguably last, idiotic ruling by the Broadcasting Standards Authority and also encourages listeners to sign up to this year’s Forum on the Family.
