First Gen Healing and Awakening
Hola! In this episode I was joined by Colette Ghunim, a FirstGen Mexican Palestinian filmmaker. Join us as she shares the different layers that unfolded as she set out to understand her parents' roots and started to reflect on her own. So grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with someone who is doing such amazing work not only through her film but also within her community! Let us know what resonates from this episode and what question you would have liked me to ask her! ------------------------------------------ Get to Know Today's Guest: As a documentary filmmaker and nonprofit co-founder, Colette Ghunim’s soul purpose is to use the power of film and storytelling for those oppressed around the world to be seen, to be heard, and to heal. Her first documentary, The People’s Girls (2016), received over 2 million views and won Best Short Documentary at the Arab Film Festival. Traces of Home, her first feature-length film, documents her inner quest to find home through unearthing her parent’s forced migrations from Mexico and Palestine. The film, in distribution with Watermelon Pictures and supported by the Sundance Institute, is currently on the festival circuit and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best U.S. Documentary at DOC NYC. Colette is a 2023 Obama Leader and has been highlighted on international outlets such as Huffington Post, Al Jazeera, Univision, and TEDx. www.tracesofhome.com [www.tracesofhome.com] @traceshome [@traceshome] @cocos.sanctuary [@cocos.sanctuary] ------------------------------------------ If you’re craving a community of fellow souls moving through creating a more authentic, intuitive led life ... join us in SoulPrimas!
