Five Minutes in the Garden - A Daily Discussion of God's Word
Hope has a remarkable way of changing how we endure the present. A traveler presses on because he knows home is just ahead. A farmer patiently waits because he trusts that the harvest will come. A mother endures the pain of childbirth because she knows new life is about to enter the world. Hope does not erase hardship. It gives hardship a purpose. That is the kind of hope Paul carried with him. He had endured imprisonment, persecution, beatings, hunger, and rejection. Yet he continued forward with unwavering joy. Why? Because his eyes were fixed on something beyond the struggles of this life. He was living in anticipation of the resurrection.
