In this episode of the God in the Timber podcast, I talk about that shift from the rush of hunting season into the quiet lull that follows. It’s a time when the woods slow down — and if I’m honest, it forces me to slow down too. I dive into what it really means to be still in a world that’s always pushing us to stay busy, and how those quiet moments tend to bring up thoughts we usually try to outrun. I share how I’ve been learning that this season of stillness isn’t empty — it’s an invitation from God. An invitation to trust Him more, to listen closer, and to grow in ways that don’t always happen when life is loud. My hope is that this conversation encourages you to lean into the quiet instead of fighting it, and to see stillness as a place where real personal and spiritual growth can take root.

TWO faces of FAITH

Today was a rough mental health day, and instead of pretending it wasn’t, I decided to talk about it. In this episode, I open up about what it feels like to struggle mentally—even when you’re walking with Christ. How so often the journey feels like five steps forward and two steps back, and how that same rhythm shows up in my mental health more times than I’d like to admit. We talk about grace, perseverance, and the reminder that setbacks don’t mean failure—they mean you’re still walking. If you’re feeling worn down, discouraged, or stuck in that back-and-forth season, you’re not alone. And if you’re struggling with your mental health, I encourage you at the end of this episode to seek help, reach out, and talk to someone. There is strength in faith, and there is strength in asking for help.

Hope is what drives us as outdoorsmen and women—the belief that the next sit could be the one, that the work matters, and that patience is never wasted. From there, I dive into biblical hope and how it speaks directly into our lives today. Not a wishful thinking kind of hope, but the steady, rooted hope Scripture calls us to live by—one that carries us through the woods and through life itself.
