Romans 6:11 Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Struggles and temptations do not define your identity. In Part 1 of my story, I share memories from growing up in a Christian home, coming to faith as a young teenager, struggling to fit in during high school, and one unforgettable moment with my father that became one of the clearest pictures of grace I've ever experienced. Sometimes the deepest truths aren't learned in a classroom. Sometimes they're learned in a backyard throwing horseshoes with your dad. This episode also introduces the people God used during the summer of 1970 to begin changing the direction of my life. Paul reminds believers that Spirit-led living is normal Christianity. Every child of God is indwelt and led by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads believers through truth, not fear or confusion. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid…" Fear is not the Spirit's signature. He produces power, love, and sound thinking. Colossians 2:13 "He forgave us all our sins." Jesus' finished work brought complete forgiveness. Hebrews 10:14 "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." Christ's once-for-all sacrifice permanently secured believers. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 God reconciled us to Himself through Christ.  Believers do not need to regain reconciliation because God already accomplished it. Romans 8:1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Believers live free from condemnation because of their union with Christ. Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Jesus offers rest to weary believers, not pressure and performance. Philippians 2:13 "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." God works from within believers, producing both desire and action.
