Logic of God
Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2149914/fan_mail/new] The second plague of Egypt is often remembered as an almost comical story about frogs covering the land. Yet beneath the surface lies a profound theological confrontation between the God of Israel and the spiritual powers Egypt believed governed creation, fertility, and order. What appears at first to be an inconvenience quickly becomes another step in God's systematic dismantling of Pharaoh's authority and the entire Egyptian worldview. In this episode, we examine why the plague of frogs follows immediately after the Nile turns to blood, why frogs carried such religious significance in ancient Egypt, and how this plague directly challenges Egypt's fertility gods, the Ogdoad, and the concept of Ma'at. We also explore why Pharaoh's magicians are only able to imitate God's judgments rather than reverse them, what that reveals about counterfeit spiritual power, and why Pharaoh's negotiations with Moses become increasingly revealing as the Exodus unfolds. Along the way, we discuss the biblical understanding of spiritual warfare, the relationship between the gods of the nations and the divine council worldview, and why passages like Revelation 16 deliberately echo the imagery of the Exodus. Rather than treating the Egyptian gods as mere mythology, we examine how Scripture presents the conflict as a genuine confrontation between the Lord and the spiritual powers that had deceived the nations.
