Meditations With James Arheghan
Scripture Focus Acts 2:42“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” In today’s episode of Meditations, we reflect on Acts 2:42, where the Bible tells us that the early believers “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine.” After the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the early church did not live by excitement alone. They gave themselves to the teaching of the apostles, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayers. Their spiritual life was built on devotion, truth, community, remembrance, and prayer. This episode reminds us that a Spirit-filled church must also be a Word-taught church. The apostles’ doctrine was not human opinion; it was Christ-centered truth handed down by those who had walked with Jesus, heard His words, witnessed His death, and proclaimed His resurrection. Sound doctrine matters because what we believe shapes how we live. If our doctrine is weak, our foundation will be weak. But when we continue in the Word, we become rooted, grounded, stable, and mature. May this meditation stir in you a fresh hunger for God’s Word and a renewed commitment to continue steadfastly in the truth of Christ. Key Thought A move of the Spirit must be followed by devotion to the Word. Fire must be guided by truth, and true disciples continue steadfastly in the teaching of Christ.
