Security remains a top priority as Monaco's Public Safety service formally welcomed its newest police recruits during a ceremony at the Auditorium Rainier III on June 23. The 2025 class, named the “Napoléon de la Londe” promotion, includes 27 agents and seven lieutenants who successfully completed a rigorous year of police academy training. Art and investment intersected at the 16th Monaco Private Label summit, also held on June 23. Under the direction of Chloé Boscagli, the summit explored the cultural and economic value of art collecting, with 100 influential members from over 30 countries gathering in the Principality for conferences and networking. The ancient tradition of the Batafoegu bonfire returned to Palace Square on the evening of June 23, illuminating the night sky as part of the feast day celebrations for Saint John the Baptist. This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest from the Principality, starting beneath the iconic Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, where the legendary 1874 wine cellars have been spectacularly brought back to life. Inaugurated on June 11 by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, the meticulously restored cellars now host the Cercle des Caves — an exclusive club offering connoisseurs rare tastings and tailor-made experiences in an underground sanctuary of vinicultural history. Meanwhile, marine protection took centre stage on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, where Monaco joined France and Italy to launch the Pelagos Consortium. This new initiative aims to reinforce conservation efforts in the 87,000-square-kilometre Pelagos Sanctuary — a vital haven for whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean. Back in the Principality, the Monaco Gerontological Coordination Center marked its 20th anniversary with a visit from HSH Prince Albert II on June 12. Located on Rue Princesse Florestine, the centre has become a cornerstone of elderly care in Monaco, supporting residents over 60 and their caregivers with a holistic approach to ageing with dignity. Further afield, the Princess Charlene Foundation continued its mission to prevent drowning by bringing its lifesaving awareness campaign to the Atlantic coast. Following a high-profile event in Monaco attended by French First Lady Brigitte Macron, the foundation’s efforts continue to gain national momentum. Heritage was at the heart of celebration on June 14, as the sixth edition of the Rencontre des Sites Historiques Grimaldi de Monaco transformed the Palace square into a living tapestry of regional culture, artisanal crafts, and historical ties across eight regions once linked to the Grimaldi family. The event, held under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, drew a colourful crowd eager to honour Monaco’s deep ancestral roots. Glamour returned in full force to the Grimaldi Forum, where the 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival wrapped up on June 17. The blue carpet sparkled with international stars, French actors, and top industry players, all celebrating the power of storytelling in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Monaco also made a major step forward in cultural preservation with the inauguration of the National Archives on June 16 in Fontvieille. Opened officially by HSH Prince Albert II, the new archives and their accompanying digital portal represent a leap into the future for safeguarding the Principality’s historical legacy. But it wasn’t all champagne and celebrations. The Roca Team suffered a major blow this week after back-to-back defeats by Paris Basketball in the French league finals. With Monaco now on the ropes, Paris are one win away from clinching a historic first title. The pressure is on. And finally, this week’s NEWS.MC TV exclusive interview features world-renowned fashion designer Isabell Kristensen. From dressing royalty to lighting up red carpets in Cannes, Kristensen speaks with us about the evolution of haute couture, her creative process, and what Monaco means to her as a designer, a resident, and a woman shaping style on the global stage.
