Kuvaus

Welcome to our very first podcast!  In this episode, we dive into the powerful Bollywood film Mrs. — a movie that hit way too close to home. This movie had us SCREAMING. We explore how Mrs. unpacks generational misogyny in South Asian households, especially the kind that’s been labelled as “normal” for far too long. From the silent expectations placed on women to perform unpaid emotional and domestic labor, to the pressure of being the “perfect” daughter, daughter-in-law, wife, etc., we talk about it all. If you’ve ever felt the invisible weight of tradition, or questioned why women are expected to do it all without complaint, this one’s for you. Topics covered: • Our experience with Bollywood • Gender roles in south-asian (or brown/black) households • Misogyny disguised as tradition • Feminism and identity in brown households This is our first video and it’s quite obvious that this video is not perfect. We are learning on the job, please give us some grace, and we hope you enjoy the video.
