Tonight on Damn You Hollywood we are reviewing The End of Oak Street. Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, the film stars Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery as a suburban family whose quiet 1982 neighborhood is suddenly transported millions of years into the past and dropped into the age of dinosaurs. Originally developed under the title Flowervale Street, the project began taking shape at Warner Bros. in 2023 with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot producing and Hathaway attached to star. McGregor, Stella and Convery joined the following year, with principal photography taking place in London and Atlanta. Several Atlanta neighborhoods were chosen for their detached homes, wide lawns and mature trees, recreating the look of early-1980s American suburbia before visual-effects powerhouse Industrial Light & Magic transformed that familiar setting into a prehistoric nightmare. Released August 14, 2026, the $80–92 million survival adventure has earned positive reviews while opening to $47 million worldwide. Tonight on the Metal Hammer of Doom we are reviewing Signal Fire by Genghis Tron. After disappearing for more than a decade and returning in 2021 with the atmospheric, psychedelic Dream Weapon, Genghis Tron have now found a way to reconnect with the violence of their early material without simply repeating it. Signal Fire brings back the screaming, blast beats and abrasive guitars, but combines them with synth-pop, electronic textures, hypnotic repetition and the expanded rhythm section that transformed the band’s sound. We’ll discuss how the album developed, the addition of bassist Kenny Szymanski, the decision to work with producer Seth Manchester, and how the record reflects a world of information overload, warfare and increasingly unstable ideas of reality. We’ll also ask whether this synthesis of old and new Genghis Tron actually works, how Signal Fire compares with Board Up the House and Dream Weapon, and whether the metal crowd finally gets the Genghis Tron album it wanted. TV Party Tonight: Bonding (Season 1)

Tonight on TV Party Tonight we are reviewing Bonding. Season one of Netflix’s micro-comedy follows Tiff, a psychology grad student who moonlights as a dominatrix, and Pete, her anxious gay best friend, who becomes her assistant. The obvious hook is BDSM, crude humor and the parade of unusual desires that come through Tiff’s dungeon, but the show is really using that world to talk about shame, anxiety, identity and the difficulty of letting other people know who you actually are. Like Dummy, Bonding takes an outlandish sexual premise and uses it to make a fairly serious psychological discussion more accessible. The kink gets your attention; the questions about vulnerability, courage and intimacy give the show something to say. Tonight we’re talking about whether that balance works, whether fifteen-minute episodes make any sense on Netflix, whether season one is really television or just a movie chopped into pieces, and how well Bonding turns sexual provocation into something more meaningful. Damn You Hollywood: Soulm8te (2026)

Tonight on Damn You Hollywood we are reviewing SoulM8te. The 2026 science fiction erotic thriller is a spin-off of M3GAN and the third installment in the franchise. Directed and co-written by Kate Dolan, the film stars Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl and Claudia Doumit, with Jason Blum and James Wan producing under the Blumhouse and Atomic Monster banners. The story follows a grieving man who beta tests an android companion as a way of coping with the death of his wife, only for the experiment in artificial intimacy to become increasingly dangerous. SoulM8te originated from a story by Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Rafael Jordan, with Dolan rewriting Jordan’s original screenplay. Filming took place in Dublin from September through November 2024. Originally scheduled for a theatrical release in early 2026, the film was pulled from Universal’s calendar before eventually premiering at the Gaze International LGBT Film Festival Dublin on July 31. Universal released it straight-to-digital on August 1, 2026.
