This first episode will discuss the current perception of healthy eating in America in relation to social media and one’s cultural identity. The conversation includes interviews with two experts in the dietetics field, Professor Norah Ismail and Dr. Urshila Sriram, as well as two of my friends, Syeda Kazmi and Vy Hoang.

Students in Professor Audrey Golden's English course, "Resist! Political Resistance in Literature and Film" learned how creating playlists is one of the ways of highlighting the power of literary form. Students thought about how music can come together to create a "soundtrack to a particular type of political resistance, or to a specific episode or moment of resistance against oppression" and created their own playlists. In this quick episode, hear about some of the songs students chose for their playlist, and why. All of the tracks you hear about (and more) can be found in this playlist. Simmons student, Molly Jean Henebury’s two-part podcast “Food Insecurity on Campus” has been nominated for “Best Podcast” at the 2021 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards. When Simmons campus closed, students were left with a slew of questions. The uncertainties for on-campus students who require residential housing were overwhelming. These students were initially allowed to stay in their dorm rooms and continued to have meals in the Fens. Students’ circumstances would change drastically as the semester carried on, moving to hotels and figuring out meals, all while continuing their studies. In this episode, Molly Jean Henebury interviews fellow Simmons student Sarah Lemire about her experience generally, but also in terms of how this situation affected her food security. Sarah is working at a local Boston Hospital as an essential employee and just finished her senior year at Simmons. Check back to hear the second episode and The Shark’s other IBS nominations.
