Sittin' With The Sosk
Reed Arnold is an Oklahoma writer-actor-director in the middle of a successful festival run with his new film, “Do Us Part,” a wedding comedy. Like Reed himself, the film made an unlikely progression from LA to NYC and from stage to screen. “Do us Part,” was written in LA as a play, put through the wringer in NYC’s Naked Angels live reads, then reworked into a screenplay to become a film short and most recently, a feature film. How do you reevaluate and reinvent something that you think is perfect in it’s original form? After a successful stage production, Reed tells us he did not want to change a thing until he brought the work to Naked Angels, where it started to take another shape for him. That moment of reinvention was the turning point for the work and the writer. Reed and PJ trade stories and discuss the importance of self critique as well as peer and audience feedback in developing a work and a career.
