Spirituality for Real People
Will we build walls, or will we build bridges? Beginning with the story of a master carpenter who transforms a feud between two brothers by building a bridge instead of a wall, this sermon explores the difficult work of reconciliation, connection, and unconditional love. Through memories of small-town life and childhood, the message considers the church’s calling to restore relationships and help people rediscover their connection to one another and to God. Against the backdrop of the Fourth of July, it also challenges us to look beyond political and social divisions and remember our shared humanity. In a world shaped by estrangement and prejudice, bridge-building is an act of faith. Sometimes the first step toward healing is simply choosing kindness, crossing the divide, and meeting one another in the middle.
