The Line Eraser
Everyone wants the weight loss. Nobody wants the face that can come with it. Lately it feels like every conversation about Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound eventually ends up in the same place: “Ozempic face.” Patients ask me about it almost every day. Some are afraid of looking older. Some are afraid of looking gaunt. Some are wondering if the medication is somehowaging them faster. The truth is more complicated. Because what people call “Ozempic face” is often the result of losing facial fat, not the medication itself. And while weight loss can improve health, confidence, and quality of life, it can also change the way a face looks in ways many people never expected. This episode isn’t about whether weight loss medications are good or bad. It’s about tradeoffs. It’s about what happens when our culture becomes obsessed with being thinner, and whether we’re prepared for everything that comes with it. Because sometimes losing weight changes more than just the number on the scale.
