He reviews more of the current trauma literature, discusses some of the challenges for us physicians in the ER, and, of course, shows you more photos he has taken in the OR to validate his teaching points.

Disaster Preparedness: Are We Ready?

Dr. Nathan Timm identifies and dispels the common myths about disasters and medical response. He also discusses the important components of disaster planning for healthcare organizations and the importance of specifically addressing children at all levels of planning. Respiratory Emergencies in Children

Dr. Hamilton Schwartz speaks on respiratory emergencies in children. This case-based presentation covers 3 different presentations of bronchiolitis and the risk factors for which children get the worst of it. A discussion of evidence-based prehospital interventions follows. The hour finishes with 2 fascinating cases of patients presenting with respiratory distress who end up with very unexpected diagnoses. Dr. Hamilton Schwartz is a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician. He is also the Cincinnati Children’s EMS Medical Director and the Pediatric Medical Director for Cincinnati’s Fire Department.
