Paige dives into Aretha Franklin's iconic 1967 cover of Otis Redding's song "Respect," examining how the adaptation of a cover can completely change the political meaning of the song. Paige also looks at how journalists like Wesley Morris view the song and how Black women have historically been written out of rock 'n' roll history. There will be no new episode next week.
