Kuvaus

In this episode of The Unexpected Detour ❤️, I reflect on one of the most comforting teachings of Jesus—faith the size of a mustard seed. Many of us believe we need perfect faith, unwavering faith, or mountain-sized faith. But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly used ordinary people who wrestled with doubt, fear, uncertainty, and questions. From Thomas and Moses to Gideon, Sarah, and Peter, we are reminded that God is not looking for perfection. He is looking for hearts willing to trust Him with what they have. As a cancer survivor, I know that faith does not eliminate uncertainty, but it does remind us that we are not walking alone. Perhaps all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed.

jakson Familiarity Bias: Choosing What We Know Over What We Need kansikuva

Familiarity Bias: Choosing What We Know Over What We Need

Familiarity doesn't always mean safety. Sometimes, it simply means repetition. In this episode of The Unexpected Detour, Frances Hammond explores familiarity bias and how our preference for what is known can keep us from healing, growing, and embracing new opportunities. Whether it's relationships, habits, mindsets, or fear of the unknown, this conversation encourages listeners to ask an important question: Am I staying because this is healthy, or because this is familiar? Through faith, reflection, and practical insight, this episode reminds us that growth often begins in unfamiliar places. Because sometimes, the life you've been praying for begins on a road you've never traveled before. Thank you for listening to The Unexpected Detour, where life detours are inevitable. If this episode resonated with you, please follow The Unexpected Detour on Spotify and share this episode with someone who may need this reminder. Remember, just because something is familiar doesn't mean it's where you're meant to stay. Until next time, take care, keep growing, and God bless.

When the Chapter Ended Before the Goodbye

Not every death leaves us heartbroken. Some losses bring tears, while others bring reflection. In this episode of The Unexpected Detour ❤️, Frances explores the complicated emotions that can arise when someone passes away, and grief doesn't look the way we expected it to. What happens when the grieving process begins years before the final goodbye? What do we do with relationships marked by disappointment, betrayal, or unmet expectations? And how do we honor our own healing without guilt or judgment? This conversation is a gentle reminder that there is no right or wrong way to process the end of someone's story. Sometimes closure comes through difficult conversations. Sometimes it comes through forgiveness. And sometimes it comes through an internal decision to stop carrying what no longer belongs to us. Join Frances for an honest reflection on grief, healing, boundaries, and the unexpected lessons that shape who we become. Because even when a chapter ends, life continues to invite us forward.
