Unlocking Aliveness in Leadership
Frances and I are back once more interviewing another great leader for our podcast, Unlocking Aliveness in Leadership. We aim to get underneath the person, understanding what makes them tick as a leader. In this week’s episode we are in conversation with Richard Pearman, Group Managing Director for Tappex. Richard’s career history has been in manufacturing, giving him a unique take on leadership. Richard defines Leadership as “Driving success through a team and keeping them aligned through a clear vision and purpose.” He says, “When I was given the freedom to be bold and make decisions, as a leader, I was at my best,” and this is his motto for the people who work with him. He describes his purpose as “Creating an environment where everyone understands where we are heading and communicating it often. It’s about making sure that everyone is on the bus and keen on the journey.” Ultimately, it’s about creating an environment where people are excited to play their part, an environment he loves. “This is fun and who doesn’t like a bit of fun?” 🤩 Richard says that he is most proud of the teams that he has formed over the years that have achieved incredible results. For him, it is not necessarily about the results, but more about the way that the team has come together with passion and drive to achieve. For Richard, his leadership aliveness is all about the energy that he gets from the people around him. If they have a sense of achievement and fun it brings him alive as a leader. His top tips for current and future leaders are: · Be brave, if you believe something needs to change, do it. Don’t over think it. · Keep Change happening - Change needs to be constant ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
