When I Heard This - Podcast
Why does marriage seem to have worse PR than ever? For something that most people still say they want, marriage spends a lot of time getting blamed for everything. It’s too restrictive. It’s outdated. It gets in the way of personal freedom. It gets in the way of God. Somehow it manages to be accused of doing all of it at once. In this episode, we dig into the idea that marriage is “the joining of two families” and why that phrase sounds a lot simpler than it actually is. We also tackle a question that shows up in Christian conversations more often than people admit: if marriage and children demand so much time, energy, and attention, does that pull people away from focusing on God? We also look at the growing anti-marriage culture in America and ask why both men and women seem increasingly skeptical of marriage. Is it bad experiences? Unrealistic expectations? Cultural shifts? Social media? A little bit of everything? Nate and Dr. Joseph Tillman approach the discussion the way they always do: honest questions, real-world observations, occasional sarcasm, and a willingness to laugh at ourselves along the way. Whether you’re married, single, dating, divorced, or just trying to make sense of modern relationship advice, there’s plenty here to wrestle with.
