Acerca de The Fear Review

Welcome to The Fear Review — the horror podcast where a lifelong genre addict (William) somehow convinced his wife Amy to watch every scary movie, not “just a few.” Each week we dive into new theatrical releases and horror classics with two very different perspectives: one of us is quoting Clive Barker, the other is questioning why any couple willingly watches possession movies before bed. If you love scary movies, sarcastic marriage banter, or just want to relive the trauma of the films that scarred you (IT, Candyman, The Conjuring), you’re in the right place. 🎙️ New episodes weekly📍 Available on Spotify, Apple, YouTube and more📩 Contact: contact@thefearreview.com Around here, The Fear is Family.

episode Amy Walked Out of Find Your Friends artwork

Amy Walked Out of Find Your Friends

Amy did something she's never done before on The Fear Review: she walked out. Not because of the horror. Not because of the gore. Because she couldn't take another minute with the characters. This week we're reviewing Find Your Friends, the new Shudder Original that follows a group of young women whose desert getaway spirals into violence. While the film aims to explore party culture, toxic friendships, trauma, and survival, neither of us could connect with the characters at the center of the story. We discuss why the film never gave us a reason to care, whether intentionally unlikeable characters can still carry a movie, why the horror arrives far too late, and how another revenge thriller on Shudder handled similar themes much more effectively. What did you think of Find Your Friends? Did the characters work for you, or were you checked out long before the horror started?

Title: Is OBSESSION Too Effective For Its Own Good?

Can a movie be so well done that it's bad for you?vThat's the question at the center of our review of OBSESSION. William thinks the film succeeds at exactly what it sets out to do, but Amy thinks that's precisely the problem. From its relentless tension and disturbing imagery to one of the bleakest horror experiences we've had in a long time, OBSESSION left us completely divided. Is making an audience miserable a sign of great horror, or does a movie eventually become too effective for its own good? Join us for our spoiler-free review, ratings, and full spoiler discussion. episode BACKROOMS Made Amy Feel Unsafe In Real Life artwork

BACKROOMS Made Amy Feel Unsafe In Real Life

BACKROOMS completely caught us off guard. What started as a creepy liminal horror movie slowly turned into one of the most isolating and emotionally draining theater experiences Amy’s had in a long time. This wasn’t just jump scares or creepy hallways. The sound design and hidden footsteps had Amy literally covering her ears and wishing she had noise-canceling headphones. We break down how the distorted spaces, oppressive atmosphere, terrifying audio design, and endless backrooms got so deeply under Amy’s skin that she didn’t even want to walk to the theater bathroom alone afterward. This movie didn’t just stay in the theater... It followed her home. 🎧 Listen & Follow The Fear Review: Spotify: https://spotify.thefearreview.com [https://spotify.thefearreview.com/] Apple Podcasts: https://apple.thefearreview.com [https://apple.thefearreview.com/] Amazon Music: https://amazon.thefearreview.com [https://amazon.thefearreview.com/] 🎬 Watch full video episodes: https://episodes.thefearreview.com [https://episodes.thefearreview.com/] 🎞️ Watch our latest Shorts: https://shorts.thefearreview.com [https://shorts.thefearreview.com/] Around here, The Fear is Family.

episode Saccharine (2026) | Horror That Gets Under Your Skin artwork

Saccharine (2026) | Horror That Gets Under Your Skin

Natalie Erika James returns with one of the most physically uncomfortable horror movies we’ve seen in a long time. In this episode, we break down Saccharine’s disturbing body horror, escalating “hungry ghost” imagery, unsettling sound design, and the deeper emotional themes underneath all of it. What starts as psychologically uncomfortable horror slowly reveals itself as something much heavier about obsession, self-worth, emotional hunger, and the things people consume trying to fill empty spaces inside themselves. We also discuss: • The cadaver and eating sequences • Why the sound design becomes part of the horror • Bertha and the movie’s psychological themes • The shift from psychological horror into supernatural escalation • Whether the ending actually works • Why Natalie Erika James continues to stand out in modern horror The visceral horror in Saccharine gets under your skin, and then what it’s really saying hits you hard. Special thanks to IFC and Shudder for providing us with a screener for review coverage. Around here, The Fear is Family.
