A Calm Strength
What happens when a high-flying IT career ends, your heart lands you in hospital with a rate of 220 beats per minute, and you're told, at 55, that if you don't change something, you won't be around to enjoy what's next? For Maggie Toole, the answer was yoga. Maggie is a yoga teacher, a plus-size yogi, and someone living with both cancer and heart failure. In this episode, she talks about her journey from stressed-out IT lead to qualified yoga teacher and founder of Accessible Asanas, a practice built for real people with real bodies and real health challenges. We talk about:- Finding the teacher who changed everything- The 21-day challenge that made it all click- How yoga helped her lose seven stone and what else had to change- Working with your body instead of fighting it- Why she decided to be completely honest about who she is online- And what she'd say to anyone who's ever walked out of a class feeling worse than when they walked in This one is for anyone who's ever thought: that's not for someone like me. It absolutely is. You can find Maggie on Instagram at @accessible.asanas Maggie teaches in-person classes at Selkirk Swimming Pool on Monday evenings and Wednesday afternoons, and is also available for online classes.
