Descripción

This blog or podcast is the first in a series of podcasts, about my son Judah. It's lessons learned from Judah. And I imagine for most of my life, or maybe even the rest of my life. I'll be learning things directly or indirectly from my son. And I do think that one of the first things my son, taught me was the value of perseverance.

Covid and the Local Church: Protect your People

Today we'll be examining an extremely controversial issue COVID and the local church. When COVID first started, I was an associate pastor at a church in Louisiana. And now I am currently a senior pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Pittsboro North Carolina. So my perspective on it throughout the crisis has changed. Also, initially, my wife and I didn't have children. And my son was born in April. So my opinion on COVID, and the responsibilities of local church has changed for two main reasons. One, I'm no longer just a youth pastor responsible for a group of children and young adults. But now I'm responsible for an entire congregation of, you know, older, middle, and younger aged people. So that's going to change my point of view. Two, of course, my wife gave birth to our son. That does impact my views and my beliefs. So I just wanted to get that at the very beginning of this clear why my views on this particular issue shifted throughout the six to nine months of this continuing adversity that we're calling COVID-19, or a lockdown or quarantine process.
