Lessons from the Vine: What does it mean to abide?

What does is mean to really abide?  Join me on the journey as we study John 15: 1-11 and learn the lessons from Jesus, the TrueVine, about how we are to live with and in Him.  This series will take us through this passage and into the vineyard to better understand the anatomy of the grape vine.  We will learn more about the life that God intends for us to have, growing and bearing fruit for His glory.

Why Aren't You Selling?

The U.S. leads as the largest advertising market worldwide, spending over $242.5 B annually.  Companies and individuals spend so much time and money trying to persuade others to be followers and consumers of their brand.  It makes me pause and think, as Christians, how do we compare, in terms of resources and efforts spent on trying to persuade others to be followers of Christ?

The Miracle and The Means

At times, we all have moments when we cry out to God for the miracle.  We all face the times in our lives when the obstacles seem to be too many and our abilities and resources seem too few.   Today's devotional reminds us that the Holy Spirit working in and through us is the means for God’s provision and that is the miracle we get to experience today and everyday. Joshua 5: 11-12 [//The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land. 12 No manna appeared on the day they first ate from the crops of the land, and it was never seen again. So from that time on the Israelites ate from the crops of Canaan.]

Our What, How, and Why

When the disciples asked Jesus how they should pray, He modeled the submission, confession, and adoration behind our prayer offerings to The Father. The last three phrases are not actually contained in the earliest of the Greek manuscripts of the Bible; however, I believe that they give us the apologetic or reason behind everything we do, not just for prayer.  It explains  the what, how, and why of our lives. Why Do I Work?

I think it is natural for everyone at some point to be unsatisfied with their work.  Not every job brings joy every day, but there is  a God-given purpose in our working.
